Tesla’s Operations and Systems Engineering team in Supply Chain builds the processes and systems that support a reliable, efficient flow of direct materials across Tesla’s factories, distribution centers, service locations, installation sites, and other relevant locations. In this role, you will help deliver operational improvements, systems capabilities, and data insights that support end-to-end scalability as production volume and fleet size increase.

The work blends systems, data, and process improvement so teams can simplify, optimize, and automate supply chain and logistics operations. You will also own KPI tracking, manage automated processes and input parameters, and help ensure changes behave as expected before and after release.
Responsibilities
- Identify, analyze, and resolve problems related to simplification, optimization, and automation across supply chain and logistics systems, data, or procedures.
- Research and collaborate with planners, vendors, customers, warehouse, logistics, and software engineers to design, deploy, and refine solutions.
- Create training materials and SOPs that reflect current system behavior, common supply chain scenarios, and precise instructions with clear examples. Monitor and maintain knowledge so it is used appropriately.
- Define and track KPIs that measure success metrics, including operational performance, frequency of issues, software usage, and effectiveness, while ensuring data availability and accuracy.
- Own and monitor automated processes, manage input parameters, and adjust algorithms or mathematical models to meet business objectives while optimizing for cost and responsiveness. Troubleshoot and triage operational queries and issues, partnering with teams such as suppliers, carriers, and software support engineers as needed.
- Provide updates on upcoming initiatives and business efficiency, gather feedback from planners and factory and other global stakeholders, and drive the roadmap. Test systems for expected behavior before release and address issues or gaps before, during, and after deployment.
- Define and document detailed system requirements using comprehensive scenarios and expected behaviors, test cases, operational dependencies, risks, and a project plan. Participate in technical discussions with software developers to balance effort and value, including backend design, response rates, and architecture.
Requirements
- Degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
- 4+ years of work experience in planning, supply chain, manufacturing, or business operations, or at least 1+ years managing software development projects and products in a business or technical role or working with ERP data extensively.
- Structured, data-driven, and quantitative problem solving. Ability to query, analyze, and present data.
- Proven ability to set expectations, manage deadlines, and hold individuals and teams accountable to critical milestones. Ability to drive strategic discussions and convert strategy into action, working across teams including IT, operations, finance, and resolving issues across systems and organizational boundaries.
- Supply chain, Logistics, or Distribution experience. Professional knowledge of transportation and trade terms and regulations.
- Experience with process improvement toolkits (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.). Experience with Agile methodology for product development. Ability to read a codebase and experience with machine learning and vision systems.
- SAP or Oracle ERP knowledge with the ability to apply it to custom built systems. Proficiency with SQL, NoSQL GQL, DDL, and Tableau, PowerBI, Excel. Professional level expertise with R or Python for data analysis and manipulation.

Estimated salary: USD 112,000 - 204,000 per year + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary by market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include other elements depending on the position offered.
