The Engineering Product Manager for Battery Energy Storage Systems at Gen-Systems, a part of the Jereh North American Group, is responsible for defining, developing, and aligning BESS solutions with market needs. The role combines strategic product ownership with technical depth and cross-functional influence to drive practical energy storage deployments.
Responsibilities
- Define and steer the product direction for BESS offerings based on customer requirements, market demand, application fit, and strategic priorities.
- Translate customer inputs and market signals into clear product requirements, technical specifications, and guidance for internal teams.
- Lead the definition of BESS capabilities, including system architecture, performance targets, standard configurations, and feature sequencing.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, and competitive positioning.
- Support technical positioning for customer opportunities through proposal inputs, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and technical presentations.
- Assess application requirements and customer requests to confirm alignment with product capabilities, standards, and commercial intent.
- Maintain and evolve product roadmaps in response to technology trends, customer feedback, competitive developments, and internal strategy.
- Incorporate field experience, commissioning feedback, and deployment considerations into ongoing product improvements.
- Participate in product, technical, and commercial reviews to ensure launch readiness and informed lifecycle decisions.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders to support solution development and market relevance.
- Advance product competitiveness through standardization, performance enhancements, manufacturability, and strong technical-market fit.
- Support alignment with applicable technical and safety standards relevant to energy storage and power systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, applications engineering, systems engineering, product management, or technical solution development.
- 3+ years of direct experience in battery energy storage, BESS, microgrid, hybrid power, distributed energy, power systems, or related power conversion/integration applications.
- Strong understanding of BESS architecture, system components, and integration principles.
- Experience translating customer or market requirements into product requirements, technical specifications, or engineering direction.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, commercial, and operational teams.
- Strong communication skills to support customer-facing technical discussions.
