Astec Industries invites a Product Manager to lead Signal Mobile Equipment, owning the strategy, roadmap, and integration with machine controls across our mobile equipment. This role centers on delivering a coherent digital experience that boosts uptime, productivity, and subscription growth, with collaboration across engineering, design, and commercial teams. Based in Chattanooga, TN onsite, you will shape how operators, fleet owners, and field teams interact with Signal and drive value across paving, milling, material transfer, crushing, screening, washing, forestry, and recycling operations.

Responsibilities
- Own the Signal Mobile Equipment roadmap to deliver measurable outcomes such as equipment uptime, productivity, material quality, fuel and idle efficiency, parts and service responsiveness, and subscription growth.
- Drive Signal adoption across the installed base of Astec mobile equipment, including migration of legacy telematics customers to Signal across paving, milling, material transfer, crushing, screening, washing, forestry, and recycling.
- Make Signal the default digital experience on new equipment deliveries, with default data transmission configured during machine commissioning.
- Partner with mobile equipment engineering and machine-controls product teams across Infrastructure Solutions and Materials Solutions as primary integration partners to ensure seamless Signal integration with machine controls and the broader digital portfolio.
- Meet revenue, subscription, and renewal targets for Signal Mobile Equipment through new product development, platform enhancements, and commercial enablement.
- Develop a deep understanding of how operators, foremen, fleet owners, and service teams use Signal, and what drives satisfaction, retention, and expansion.
- Identify trends shaping the digital experience for mobile equipment customers, including AI, operator assist and autonomy, throughput monitoring, intelligent analytics, predictive maintenance, and data-sharing needs.
- Conduct regular job site visits and field research; build alpha and beta customer portfolios to validate features before scaling.
- Gather and interpret market data, including competitor offerings, pricing, and installed base positioning.
- Assess installed base coverage, migration progress, and retrofit opportunities across the full mobile fleet.
- Translate strategy into detailed product requirements and a prioritized Signal Mobile Equipment roadmap.
- Lead Agile ceremonies for the Mobile Equipment workstream and report metrics and progress to stakeholders.
- Engage product, engineering, design, commercial, and field teams to validate priorities and align on the roadmap.
- Drive initiatives that close capability gaps relative to legacy and competitor offerings, with emphasis on fleet visibility, asset utilization, paving analytics (PaverTracker), and third-party system integrations.
- Lead new product development projects from inception to launch.
- Develop business cases (payback, ROI, NPV) for investments and present for executive approval.
- Aim for growth targets through innovation, continuous improvement, and engineer-to-order projects.
- Coordinate with Astec Digital design, engineering, and Advanced Technology teams on UX, AI features, and platform architecture affecting Mobile Equipment.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Solutions and Materials Solutions product teams to deliver a single, coherent experience across the full mobile fleet.
- Coordinate with the parts platform to drive parts pull-through via Signal integration.
- Serve as Mobile Equipment product owner in cross-team forums covering subscription administration, asset management, data governance, and OEM dealer/channel enablement.
- Ensure default data transmission is configured on every new equipment delivery in partnership with machine-controls engineering and field service.
- Facilitate Signal product launches and support marketing plans for new and improved Mobile Equipment offerings.
- Develop and deliver product training, sales tools, and field service materials for Astec sales teams, OEM dealer channels, and customer onboarding.
- Partner with the Digital commercial enablement team and the Subscriptions & Services Commercial Manager on subscription administration, renewal processes, and pricing execution.
- Act as subject matter expert for complex quotes, RFPs, and customer technical discussions involving Signal Mobile Equipment.
- Own the Signal Mobile Equipment price book for standard and custom offerings.
- Generate and maintain product line presentations covering overview, market share, profitability, features and benefits, and roadmap.
- Support industry events and customer advisory groups as a Signal Mobile Equipment spokesperson and listener.
Requirements
- Four year college degree in a technical, design, business, or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Product management, product ownership, or senior application/UX experience in industrial software, telematics, IoT platforms, or connected equipment and fleet systems.
- Road construction (paving, milling), aggregate processing (crushing, screening, washing), or forestry/recycling equipment industry experience and familiarity with mobile equipment operations and telematics is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of digital platforms, SaaS subscription models, and data-driven product development; comfort interpreting telemetry and platform performance metrics.
- Familiarity with embedded machine control systems, CAN bus/J1939, GPS/GNSS positioning, and telematics architectures to coordinate with machine-controls engineering teams.
- Experience leading Agile sprint ceremonies and reporting product metrics.
- Experience with AI-assisted product workflows for user-story writing, requirements drafting, and competitive intelligence is a plus.
- Energetic, highly motivated, and able to function in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20 percent.
- Strong collaboration skills across internal teams, OEM business units, partners, and customers.
