Tesla Government Inc. is building toward a SaaS future for its CKM initiative, taking a legacy system through refactoring, modernization, and productization while preparing it for government use. As the CKM Product Manager (State), you will lead a focused team effort to deliver AI-driven document management, multi-level chatbot capabilities, and reliability improvements, translating MVP learnings into steady platform growth.
Role Overview
You will structure and direct the CKM effort, guiding development and design teams toward phased outcomes. The goal is to modernize a Java codebase using AI models and tools and bring the resulting platform to market with capabilities that support government requirements, including uptime standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the CKM initiative, organizing a small team to achieve significant results across a phased timeline
- Direct development and design teams
- Update, modernize, and productize a Java codebase using AI models and tools
- Use AI models and tools to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities to improve UI/UX
- Improve platform uptime to 99.9% using AI models and tools
- Assess and improve infrastructure components such as SOLR search using AI models and tools
- Deliver AI-driven document management features including auto-tagging with standard tags (for example, Dublin Core) and customer-specific tags (for example, DoS Tags/Terms)
- Create and deploy a process for customer-specific taxonomies and ontologies (long-term goal)
- Enable AI-driven document knowledge graphs and related visualizations as appropriate
- Provide notifications, alerts, and repository utilization logs (who is viewing what)
- Produce recurring AI-generated reports and notifications summarizing repository additions, deletions, and updates by topic and geography, and supporting responses to complex queries
- Build chatbot functionality at multiple access levels: enterprise integration, bureau support for restricted employee access (for example, an Inspector General), and office support for repositories with PII or confidential handling restrictions requiring need-to-know access
- Ensure platform capabilities comply with government requirements for uptime and related standards

- An established process for creating and deploying customer-specific taxonomies and ontologies
- Chatbot functionality across enterprise, bureau, and office levels with access controls suited to each levelβs handling restrictions
- A small team delivering meaningful phased outcomes, with decisions informed by MVP learnings and A/B test results
- Consistent month-over-month platform user growth, supported by product-led growth patterns such as recommendations
- Expansion of the user base through other platform-available services (for example, OSINT)
