As a Lead Data Product Owner for Finance, you will own and advance a portfolio of Finance data products, focusing on reliability, measurable value, and ongoing adoption. You will co-lead Finance data product strategy and partner closely with analytics engineering to shape requirements and guide delivery from problem definition through design.
Role Overview
You will independently drive initiatives that improve Finance data maturity, develop and prioritize a Finance data product roadmap, and influence build decisions with the GTM analytics engineering squad. The role also requires navigating data mart architecture tradeoffs, defining auditable data flows, and supporting adoption through improved data definitions, literacy, and governance.
Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of Finance data products end to end, including reliability, value, and adoption
- Independently lead projects that advance Finance’s data maturity, from problem definition to adoption
- Shape the Finance data product roadmap and prioritize based on adoption and business value
- Collaborate with the GTM analytics engineering squad to influence what to build and how to design it
- Shape data mart architecture, metric definitions, and reporting requirements, navigating design tradeoffs
- Define requirements for auditable data flows, including traceability and lineage for audit and executive reporting
- Partner with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and Procurement leaders to shape and draft requirements
- Drive alignment on business and data definitions, translating business problems into buildable requirements
- Oversee data quality, SLAs, and governance aligned with SOX, ASC 606, and external audit standards
- Drive discoverability and data literacy, aligning with peer data product owners across G&A and GTM
Requirements
- 7+ years in data product management, analytics, BI, or data management
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Finance domain expertise strongly preferred, such as revenue recognition, reporting, FP&A, procurement, and close (fast domain ramp considered)
- Exceptional ability to bridge technical and business communication, identified as a core competency
- Track record of influencing outcomes with engineers and business leaders
- Experience shaping and drafting requirements and leading projects despite conflicting priorities
- Strong grasp of data modeling, pipelines, data quality, governance, and BI tooling, including SQL
- Familiarity with SOX and ASC 606
- Experience with Finance data mart design, including star schemas, SCDs, and auditable flows
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Power BI, or comparable platforms
- Experience with NetSuite or similar financial systems and their data models
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification
- Experience with SaaS/B2B metrics such as ARR, deferred revenue, and billings
- Agile/Scrum experience and familiarity with JIRA
