Job Description

Sefar Inc. is offering a full-time, onsite opportunity in Depew, NY for a Product Design Engineer focused on delivering better quality and stronger production output. In this role, you will own engineering deliverables across designated product lines, supporting new part creation and continuous improvement that keeps manufacturing costs low while maintaining or improving performance. The position also includes training responsibilities, technical support, and close collaboration with customers, sales, marketing, and internal engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Create new parts and revise existing parts to meet customer specifications
Enter routings and bill of materials (BOMs) into the Infor LN (ERP) system
Ensure existing routings and BOMs remain accurate and up to date
Debug issues related to product fit, form, and/or function
Conduct testing on new and existing products
Provide technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders
Support manufacturing process optimization and contribute to process flow and material utilization decisions
Assist the Quality Department when investigating and correcting customer complaints
Collaborate with customers, sales, marketing, and/or engineers on product design
Assist with product estimating to determine manufacturing costs, including material yield estimates
Maintain project ownership and manage the project plan until proper transition to manufacturing is complete
Prepare design, tooling, and/or production drawings, including bill of materials and design router creation
Factor in all product details that influence cost estimates (for example: special packaging, shipping costs, and tooling)
Use and improve Sefar policies and procedures as needed to complete related tasks
Assume other assignments as directed by Management

Growth and expected knowledge

You are expected to learn and apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, tooling, and design requirements within the specific product lines. You will also participate in continuous improvement efforts aimed at achieving the lowest manufacturing cost while sustaining or improving quality.

Requirements

Four-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Technology
1-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred (minimum experience listed: 1 year)
Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory
Ability to use CAD, Microsoft Office applications, IBM Notes, Infor LN (ERP), and a Windows operating environment
Knowledge of industrial filtration, technical fabrics, sewing, slitting, and/or web converting is beneficial

Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required to facilitate training activities, project work, and customer support
Pay range: USD 55,000 - 70,000 per year
