Job Description

Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. offers a role where you can shape a product portfolio across the Americas and help drive outcomes for customers in industrial automation. You’ll work onsite in Vernon Hills, IL while partnering with sales, engineering, marketing, and global development teams to turn customer needs into clear product strategy and execution. The position includes a competitive salary range of USD 111,200 - 152,900 per year, with commission and other forms of incentive compensation.

Responsibilities

Develop and own the product portfolio business plan, supporting sales and market expansion goals with achievable initiatives and execution plans.
Support development and communication of the product vision, messaging, and strategy, partnering with senior leaders to align internal priorities and socialize plans with key stakeholders.
Manage the full product lifecycle, including development support, launch execution, growth initiatives, and end-of-life activities, coordinating training, certification, and regulatory requirements as needed.
Support pricing and margin analysis by gathering data, monitoring performance, and providing recommendations to inform pricing decisions.
Partner with sales to engage customers and prospects, conduct market and customer research, and translate insights into product requirements.
Collaborate with Local and MELCO development teams to define requirements, prioritize development work, and deliver high-quality products while balancing business needs with technical and resource constraints.
Work with Marketing to execute product launches and go-to-market activities, including positioning, value propositions, segmentation, and targeted messaging.
Monitor and analyze product performance metrics to assess product health, identify trends, and enable data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
Build effective working relationships with cross-functional partners across sales, business development, service, corporate marketing, MELCO, and legal to coordinate product initiatives and growth plans.
Provide cross-product support by aligning group strategies and business plans, maintaining shared targets and collateral, and serving as a backup resource when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, or business equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of professional industrial automation experience in sales, marketing, and/or applications engineering.
Technical and commercial knowledge of industrial automation products, including one or more of: Variable Frequency Drives, Servo/Motion, PLC, HMI, CNC, Robot, and Various Industrial Networks.
Experience with common CNC and Robot applications, including Machine Tending APPLICATIONS.
Ability to travel internationally, as needed.
Strong ability to handle multiple concurrent priorities, with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.
Proven listening, negotiation, and consensus-building skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers at all levels.
Excellent writing, oral, and presentation skills with a strong professional presence.
Strong experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job Description

Own strategy and growth for Rust-Oleum’s Automotive category while shaping differentiated solutions for DIY and professional users. Based in Vernon Hills, IL (onsite), this Product Management role blends consumer insight, technical product development, and commercial execution to drive portfolio performance and category leadership.

With a salary range of $90,000 to $120,000 per year (bonus eligible), you will build and lead long-term plans, guide breakthrough product development, and partner across teams to translate market and customer intelligence into actionable initiatives.

Responsibilities

Define and execute long-term product strategies aligned to business growth goals, including an innovation roadmap, competitive analysis, and evaluation of market trends.
Create a 3-to-5-year strategic product plan that translates into actionable 0-to-2 year functional, business, and marketing plans.
Support sales and finance with annual budget processes.
Conduct strategic periodic product line reviews from financial, market, competitor, and user perspectives.
Identify initiatives that drive revenue growth and margin expansion across assigned product line(s).
Coordinate cross-functional teams to select initiatives based on P&L impact and financial investment, building them into a 1-to-3 year action plan.

Direct market research and market intelligence gathering for applications, users, competition, and market trends; use insights to formulate category and product recommendations.
Drive early-stage opportunity assessment, ideation, and concept development from concept to market launch.
Drive new product development activities through the Stage-Gate process.
Define and develop product positioning, messaging, feature specifications, unique selling proposition, and pricing strategies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA a plus).
6+ years of relevant Product Development or Brand experience (Automotive Aftermarket experience preferred).
Strong new product development experience.
Understanding of the product commercialization process, including documentation and information-sharing protocols.
Understanding of retail, automotive aftermarket, and hardware/distribution business models.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Passion for solving problems and thinking creatively, including the ability to pitch ideas and welcome feedback.
Analytic and strategic thinking with the ability to process complex information and make data-driven decisions.
Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams including Operations, Finance, Sales, Research & Development, and Customer Service.
Confident public speaking ability to influence senior level management.
