The Dimming Glass Product Owner I at Gentex Corporation, Inc. translates product management strategies into engineering execution for Gentex dimming products throughout the product life cycle. The role coordinates cross-functional engineering work, supports product requirements and roadmaps, and helps ensure testing, prototyping, and customer and competitive activities are carried out effectively.
Focus Areas
The role focuses on automotive applications for the next generations of established dimming products, including Inside/Outside electrochromic mirrors, as well as new product platforms such as dimming visors and large area glazings.
The position also requires effective interaction with a range of disciplines including R&D, electrical engineering (software and hardware), mechanical engineering, program management, UI/UX design, and manufacturing operations. Additional duties include preparing and managing materials for development activities related to dimmable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and drive work across engineering disciplines to keep development projects aligned with product strategies and product roadmaps.
- Support PDSs (PRDs) and other high-level product requirements, including system architecture.
- Provide regular feedback to the Product Line Manager to support development and maintenance of product roadmaps and strategies.
- Deliver guidance and decision-making support for effective backlog grooming and prioritization, including escalation of timing or delivery concerns.
- Support RFIs, RFQs, and other customer activities related to product and technical topics.
- Ensure robust product testing is completed across teams and at different stages of maturity.
- Research and support opportunities for new technology assimilation while maintaining expertise in the assigned product or technology area.
- Assist with development of prototype Proof of Concept (POC) systems and demonstrators for trade shows and customer engagements.
- Coordinate and participate in benchmarking and competitive product evaluation.
- Build relationships and regularly interface with Gentex Research, GTI, Advanced Engineering, and Launch Engineering.
- Attend trade shows and build relationships within the product area and broader ecosystem.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering or product management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with a variety of engineering or technical-related fields, disciplines, practices, and procedures.
- Experience working with Agile workflows and other Product Management concepts and tools.
