Job Description

UnitedHealthcare is hiring a part-time UX Research Lab Technician for a hybrid role based in Eden Prairie, MN. The position offers an hourly rate ranging from USD 23 to 42 and centers on lab and session support, study coordination, and careful data handling to ensure a high-quality research experience.

Responsibilities

Lab and Session Support: Prepare lab spaces for in-person and remote sessions, set up audiovisual equipment, and verify that all tools and software are running smoothly.
Study Coordination: Manage study logistics and assist researchers with day-of-study needs, including note-taking during moderated sessions.
Research Output and Session Editing: Aid researchers in editing recorded sessions, clipping key moments, and organizing highlights into clear artifacts for stakeholders (such as highlight reels and readout materials).
Operational Management: Maintain lab and research team operations by keeping equipment up to date, troubleshooting basic technical issues, and ensuring research tools function correctly.
Lab Innovation and Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve lab utilization, support hybrid research, raise visibility of lab capabilities, and enhance participant and stakeholder experiences; contribute ideas for tools, workflows, and offerings.
Participant Experience: Manage the end-to-end participant journey by welcoming participants, delivering clear instructions, and maintaining a professional, accessible research environment.
Data Management: Assist with data capture by recording sessions, organizing notes, managing secure file storage, and supporting secure data handling practices.
Compliance and Privacy: Ensure adherence to HIPAA, company policies, and research ethics standards when handling participant information and session recordings.
Process and Documentation: Maintain lab usage documentation, study throughput metrics, and operational reporting; organize session outputs to support reuse of insights across teams.
Collaboration: Work with UX researchers, strategists, and designers to anticipate needs, improve processes, and continually enhance the research experience.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in research coordination, lab operations, technical support, media production, or a related field. Internships or academic lab experience may count toward this requirement.
At least 1 year of experience with video editing or clipping tools such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Descript, or equivalent software.
