Join Guardant Health and help shape the product roadmap for an internal LIS (LIMS) system that supports end-to-end laboratory workflows. This hybrid role in Redwood City, CA connects operational laboratory needs with software development, translating complex requirements into a clear, prioritized plan that aligns with clinical growth and regulatory commitments.
What you’ll work on
As a Clinical System Product Manager, you will partner across Product, Software Engineering, and sample operations teams to develop and communicate the long-term vision for LIS. You will bridge domain language and technical concepts bidirectionally, ensuring that operational realities are reflected in software capabilities and that technical constraints are understood by stakeholders.
- Develop and communicate the long-term LIS vision aligned to business strategy, clinical growth, regulatory commitments, and operational priorities.
- Gather and synthesize software requirements and enhancement requests from production-critical teams, then translate stakeholder feedback and operational observations into documented prioritized requirements.
- Map current-state and future-state workflows across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical operations from sample order through sample report.
- Consolidate competing or overlapping requests by identifying common patterns and grouping related needs into cohesive feature sets.
- Translate operational requirements into technical user stories, swim lane diagrams, and wire frames as needed for design and development.
- Partner with Software Engineering to assess technical feasibility, architectural considerations, dependencies, and level of effort.
- Build and maintain a quarterly operations product roadmap aligned with operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and enterprise software architecture.
- Use operational data and analytics to identify opportunities, quantify improvement areas, and prioritize LIMS and workflow automation investments.
- Oversee products and features from conception through design, development, testing, deployment, and optimization.
- Participate in sprint demos and support UAT, gathering feedback to validate that delivered features meet operational needs.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and feed learnings back into the roadmap.
- Manage stakeholder expectations around timelines, scope, and trade-offs with clarity and high emotional intelligence.
- Facilitate collaborative decision-making when requirements conflict or resources are constrained.
Core skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering, informatics, life sciences or related) or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in laboratory systems, process engineering, requirements management, product management, or technical program management.
- Demonstrated experience with a LIS or LIMS in a regulated clinical diagnostic lab.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, sample life cycle, accessioning, testing, result review and reporting, quality controls, and system integrations.
- Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and translate complex stakeholder requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of product development processes and software development lifecycles, including regulated computer-system validation, change control, data integrity, and applicable requirements such as CLIA, CAP, and/or ISO standards.
- Track record of working across technical and non-technical teams in regulated environments.
- Experience with software architecture, platform design principles, and technical debt management.
