Product Manager - Control Panels
Job Description
Overview
Location: Coatesville, PA 19320
In this role, you will oversee all controls related offerings, including AERprocess, VFDs, AERtronic, and Industrial Control Panel products. You will lead market research, competitive analysis, pricing strategies, and both internal and external training. Close collaboration with Electrical & Controls Engineering teams and the Sales Team will ensure these solutions are effectively integrated into customer deployments.
What you will do
- Perform comprehensive market research to capture customer needs, competitive dynamics, and industry trends to guide product improvements and marketing plans. (Business Intelligence)
- Provide marketing with core product information such as features, benefits, ROI, and develop and execute a marketing plan along with collateral requirements. (Literature and Marketing)
- Draft product requirements for new offerings; partner with sales/service, engineering, and sourcing to define robust solutions; maintain roadmaps for Controls and ensure milestones are achieved. (Product Development)
- Use CRM tools (Salesforce) to gather real-time data on opportunities. (Opportunity Pipeline)
- Train inside and outside sales and service teams on applications, solutions, product value, competitive landscape, and differentiators. (Internal Training)
- Support the creation of best practices for starting up projects that include Controls. (Internal Training)
- Facilitate and support customer training programs and seminars on our products, solutions, and their value to customers. (External Training)
- Provide quotes and technical support for AERprocess, Controls, and VFDs; train Application Engineering teams to quote Controls effectively; assist in pricing and discounting strategies. (Quoting, Pricing)
- Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering team on ICP Shop launch and marketing; support sourcing strategies with existing and new suppliers. (Production)
- Address quality and performance issues in applications, document findings, and work with USA engineering to identify root causes and drive product improvements. (Quality)
- Work with Finance to estimate product line profitability, accounting for as-sold profitability, warranty and goodwill costs (including labor), and aftersales profit. (Profitability)
- Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, aligning with market needs and continuous improvement. (Lifetime of Revenue)
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to develop parts lists that meet lead-time expectations, localization, warranty, service, and spare parts needs. (Inventory)
- Engage regularly with peers to broaden the scope of customer solutions and foster product integration. (Product Integration)
- Support global growth and development initiatives in controls and industrial control panel products, collaborating with Product Line Managers and sales/production teams under the direction of the Director of Engineering and Manager of Product Management. (Global Coordination)

Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree (four-year college or technical school) required. Field of Study preference: Engineering
- Experience: 3-5 years of related sales engineering and/or engineering design experience. Experience in Control Systems and/or Variable Frequency Drives is a plus
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent planning, communication, organization, and execution skills; high attention to detail; analytical and logical thinker who can problem-solve and implement solutions; excellent time management. Ability to travel 25-35% of the time including conditions during inclement weather.
Technology and Tools
- Technical mindset with strong problem-solving ability. Experience with Navision would be a plus. Expert in Excel, with advanced knowledge of the other Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider a plus. Will learn and utilize other software systems in the role.

- Advanced verbal and written communication skills; able to present to groups and educate/train others.

Work Environment
Work performed in a LEED Certified, general office environment, and shop and warehouse location. Cement floors, daylight, seasonally adjusted temperatures. Overhead cranes, moving forklifts on a consistent basis. Welding arcs are being used. Exposure to paints, solvents, degreaser, adhesives/sealants, and oils. Position may require availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. May also require participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
