Job Description

Product Design Engineer position at ITT Inc. onsite in Valencia, CA, with a salary range of USD 112,700 - 168,500 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, finance, mechanical engineering, quality, testing, program management, and production support to advance project goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop prototypes and products that can transition to production.
  • Perform design and analysis to meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Design tooling and fixtures as needed to manufacture designs consistently and cost-effectively.
  • Assist in resolving technical problems in the lab or on the production floor.
  • Support evaluation and resolution of escapes and field issues reported by customers.
  • Generate accurate parts lists and digital bills of materials, including sub-assemblies, fasteners, tooling, and hardware, aligned with design requirements.
  • Develop procedures for parts and systems, such as Acceptance Test Procedures, Qualification Test Procedures and Reports, and Qualification by Analysis & Similarity Reports.
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies using ANSI and ASME Y14 geometric dimensioning & tolerancing and other best practices.
  • Develop product concepts, tooling designs, drawings, and parts lists based on customer data, loads, performance requirements, material applicability, and environmental constraints.
  • Lead and drive progress of assigned projects to ensure milestones are met.
  • Develop designs, data, specifications, processes, and reports throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Present designs and technical findings at reviews.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and 8+ years of engineering design and development experience.
  • Extensive experience designing mechanical components and systems using advanced composites, elastomers, and metals (including ECS components, ducts, and multi-layer panels).
  • Familiarity with aerospace composite and metal manufacturing methods and best practices.
  • Self-driven with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willing and able to share knowledge with other team members in a collaborative manner.
  • Proficient in CAD modeling and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and/or Catia.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Capabilities

  • Experience with project engineering and technical leadership.
  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards.
  • Ability to define test plans, write test procedures, and lead development and qualification testing.
  • Experience with stress analysis and simulations (Ansys preferred).
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
