Senior Product Design Engineer

STARC Systems Inc is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to own the full lifecycle of new products, from concept through manufacturing launch. This on-site role in Brunswick, Maine, focuses on leading cross-functional design initiatives and translating market and customer needs into clear requirements that drive prototyping, testing, and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Directs ongoing design initiatives by prioritizing tasks, addressing design and planning challenges, and developing actionable plans to keep programs on schedule.
• Oversees end-to-end design and development of new products, accessories, fixtures, and tooling, combining hands-on CAD work with team leadership to meet performance, cost, and timeline targets.
• Creates and evaluates design concepts, conducts engineering analyses and testing, and selects materials and manufacturing methods that satisfy product specifications.
• Translates customer and market insights into clear product requirements, design inputs, and validated outputs.
• Facilitates design reviews, design for manufacturability assessments, and cross-functional gate reviews to ensure alignment with cost, quality, and schedule goals.
• Provides post-launch product support, including troubleshooting field issues, evaluating defects, and driving design or process improvements from feedback.
• Occasional travel to support product testing, collect customer feedback, and assist with field installations; travel estimated up to 5%.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 7 years of product development and design engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading projects to successful product launches.
• Proficiency with Office 365 Apps, SolidWorks CAD, project management, and related engineering software.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines including materials, manufacturing technologies, and processes.
