Senior Product Design & Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Behavioral Safety Products is seeking a Senior Product Design and Manufacturing Engineer to guide product design, development, and the path to successful production. This role combines hands-on engineering, quality focus, supplier collaboration, and technical support to move concepts into compliant, production-ready products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design new products and improve existing products using SolidWorks CAD.
- Develop engineering solutions that enhance performance, manufacturability, safety, and cost.
- Ensure products comply with applicable industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to convert concepts into production-ready designs.
- Create detailed product specifications and product documentation.
- Review prototypes, first articles, and production samples to verify quality and compliance.
- Lead quality initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts with suppliers.
- Analyze manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop domestic and international manufacturing partners.
- Act as the primary technical contact for suppliers throughout product development and production.
- Resolve challenges related to manufacturing, processes, quality, and cost.
- Coordinate third-party product testing and support successful certification when required.
- Conduct patent research during product development and work with patent attorneys on filings and documentation.
- Monitor competitive products for potential intellectual property considerations.
- Provide technical expertise to internal teams and customers, including troubleshooting field and production issues.
- Investigate design and manufacturing failures to improve future products.
- Support sales teams with technical presentations and product expertise at trade shows when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Several years of experience designing physical products that have been successfully manufactured and sold.
- Strong CAD proficiency with SolidWorks preferred.
- Experience designing products using plastics, metals, and production assemblies.
- Experience working directly with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, fabrication, and assembly.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Location
Location: Athens, GA 30606 (onsite)
Salary: USD 90,000 - 125,000 per year (offer depending on experience)
