Job Description

In this Product Owner / platform owner role at Morgan Stanley, you will support the Wealth Management Alternative Investments Platforms Team and help shape how key alternative investment products are delivered to advisors and clients. The team leads strategic technology initiatives and application reengineering efforts across hedge funds, private equity, private credit, and private real estate to improve the financial advisor/client experience and increase operational efficiency.

This position focuses on driving initiatives end to end through the program development life cycle. You will partner across business areas and lead progress independently, translating needs into clear business requirements, aligning stakeholders, coordinating with technology developers, and overseeing testing and rollout efforts.

What you’ll do

Work within Wealth Management’s Alternative Investments Platforms Team supporting hedge funds, private equity, private credit, and private real estate.
Help drive strategic technology initiatives and application reengineering work aimed at improving the advisor/client experience and operational efficiency.
Manage initiatives across the program development life cycle, coordinating with teams in different business areas including sales, product, and operations.
Act as a product owner / platform owner who advances initiatives independently, including developing business requirements, obtaining stakeholder buy-in, coordinating with technology developers, and overseeing testing and rollout.

What you bring

Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years of relevant finance industry experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel
Strong organization and attention to detail
Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and escalate risks
Ability to critically assess processes for optimization and to drive continuous improvement in the underlying function set
Capability to take direction and work independently, as well as collaborate in a team environment

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operational activities for alternative investments, including hedge funds and private equity, at both fund and client levels.

Coordinate offering and subscription documentation based on client eligibility, tax status, and investment requirements, working with internal teams and fund managers to keep materials current.

Review open-end fund subscription agreements for completeness and submit finalized documentation to fund managers.

Responsibilities

Define product vision and strategy across GAIS, aligning client and advisor needs with multi-LOB objectives, mapping the current state, regional variations, and opportunities; establish end-state, operating model, and roadmap; evaluate build versus buy decisions on cost-benefit grounds.
Establish and lead cross-LOB governance forums; perform market mapping and due diligence to inform structuring decisions; champion solutions and drive OKRs and KPIs to measure cross-LOB commercial impact; unify diverse groups to deliver scalable, innovative outcomes.
Analyze client and advisor requirements and the competitive landscape, including vendor and fintech offerings, to inform capability development and strategic roadmaps.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required

Proven track record leading product development initiatives in complex, matrixed organizations
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, manage stakeholders, and influence partners
Ability to grasp complex concepts and explain them clearly to diverse audiences

Knowledge of regulatory and risk considerations in portfolio management
