Dash Product Owner I

The Dash Product Owner I role at M&T Bank serves as the accountable owner for an assigned product or set of products, translating customer and stakeholder input into product vision, prioritization, and delivery alignment with an agile team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and own the product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall strategic intent, and communicate these plans to the team and relevant stakeholders.
• Prioritize the product backlog based on the product vision and strategy.
• Represent the voice of the customer within the team and convey the customer story details to support delivery decisions.
• Make autonomous decisions quickly and thoughtfully to move work forward in alignment with the product vision and strategy.
• Write user stories and groom the backlog in partnership with the team.
• Specify acceptance criteria for each user story to support Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD).
• Partner with the delivery team to develop information radiators and other communication tools for internal team and stakeholder use.
• Participate in team activities and ceremonies.
• Use matrixed influence to work with essential business partners across the organization regardless of hierarchy or division, advocating for outcomes that benefit the customer.
• Engage with and understand customers.
• Focus on outcomes over outputs, using design thinking methods and analytics to inform product design.
• Collaborate across teams and with other Product Owners to align the customer journey and dependent backlogs.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
• Identify risk-related issues that require escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and issues raised by external regulators, as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of business, analytical, technical, and/or product experience; or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years higher education and/or work experience, including at least 4 years of business, analytical, technical, and/or product experience.
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Strategic thinking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven decision-making skills, with confidence to make independent decisions while incorporating stakeholder input and feedback.

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct management responsibility. As an individual contributor, the jobholder must manage activities through influence, accountability, and ownership, operating within an agile environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Subject matter expertise in the Dash Product for which the position is responsible.
• Prior experience prioritizing across competing priorities in a quickly changing landscape.
• Experience seeking out multiple opinions while making independent decisions and influencing positive outcomes.
• Understanding of Design Thinking principles.
• Knowledge of basic product design and development best practices.
• Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices.
• Experience partnering with user experience teams on product design.
• Experience developing and managing digital capabilities.
• Backlog management experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Arrangement and Location

This is a full-time hybrid role requiring four days per week in-office and allowing one day per week remote work. The position is based at M&T Bank’s Seneca One office in Downtown Buffalo, NY.

Compensation

USD 103,000 - 171,600 per year.
