Engineering Manager - Proprietary Product Design
Job Description
Join ilocatum in Kansas City, MO (onsite) and lead a proprietary product line with real ownership across design, development, and testing. This role combines hands-on engineering work with people leadership, giving you the chance to mentor a small team while shaping product outcomes from concept through launch. What you’ll do
- Lead end-to-end product design, development, and testing for a proprietary product line, from concept through launch.
- Own product R&D and testing execution for custom builds, including technical input for configurations and applications.
- Act as the technical point of contact between sales, customers, and manufacturing to support custom configurations.
- Manage and mentor a small engineering team, and contribute input toward growing the team.
- Support ERP processes, including BOM accuracy, drawing control, and inventory data used by purchasing.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities rather than working a single long-duration assignment.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, bringing solutions independently rather than relying on close day to day supervision.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical or related).
- Strong, current, hands-on proficiency in SOLIDWORKS.
- Experience doing hands-on product design work combined with managing or mentoring engineers.
- Proven ability to manage multiple active projects at the same time.
