IT Product Owner - Platform Enablement
Job Description
The IT Product Owner - Platform Enablement role at Costco Wholesale will shape platform requirements and translate platform strategy into a detailed, prioritized backlog for the Platform Enablement team. You will partner with product and delivery leadership to drive incremental improvements that enhance agility, resilience, and the overall engineering experience.
Responsibilities
- Support business strategy by developing a backlog of features and user stories for use by the delivery team.
- Define requirements for each user story, including detailed acceptance criteria.
- Use data and insights from multiple sources to identify opportunities that benefit the business and Costco Wholesale members.
- Drive incremental delivery by identifying ways to meet business goals while learning from members and end users through frequent, measurable enhancements.
- Collaborate with the delivery team using best practices to support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and long-term release planning.
- Monitor and improve product health.
- Ensure completed stories meet acceptance criteria by reviewing test plans, the output of automated testing, and contributing to manual testing when needed.
- Prioritize and collaborate on resolution of issues and defects.
- Seek continuous improvement across the product team’s processes.
- Seek continuous improvement across the delivery team’s processes by using retrospectives to inspect and adapt.
- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and levels of management.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and coaching to junior Product Owners.
- Stay current on product ownership and apply product development and agile delivery practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of current experience working on a Scrum and/or Agile team.
- 3+ years of current experience working on a Services Oriented or Microservice development platform.
- 3+ years of experience creating documentation for communication with varied audiences.
- 2+ years of experience working on technical development projects.
- Deep understanding of business requirements elicitation.
- Proficiency in business modeling, project scoping, and use case creation.
- Expertise in utilizing standard documentation tools and utilities.
- Experience leading a Platform Engineering or Internal Developer Portal (IDP) or Platform Tooling team.
- Familiar with: Java, JavaScript, Hibernate, MS SQL, No SQL, REST, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger, Helm, Istio, TKG, SRE, Python, DevOps, SonarQube, Feature Flagging Systems, IDP development.
- Deadline oriented with the ability to self-manage.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a close team environment.
- Ability to listen to and understand business needs (experience with a travel technology organization is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Workspace applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Location and Salary
- Location: Seattle, WA (onsite)
- Pay range (Level 2): USD 105,000 - 135,000 per year
- Pay range (Level 3): USD 130,000 - 160,000 per year
