Lead Product Design Engineer
Job Description
Maverick Tech is hiring a Lead Product Design Engineer in Holland, MI for an onsite role. In this position, you will shape complex mechanical system designs from early concepts into solutions built for high performance, manufacturability, and reliable execution through production launch.
You will rely on CAD modeling and simulation to optimize lifecycle outcomes, validate engineering integrity and manufacturability, and steer technical work as it moves from design release to manufacturing readiness.
What you’ll do
- Architect and refine detailed 3D models, layouts, and assembly drawings to meet performance and quality requirements.
- Lead cross-functional design reviews, using CAE and simulation data to validate product integrity and manufacturability.
- Drive continuous improvement through cost-benefit analyses and apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) best practices.
- Own the end-to-end product release process, ensuring technical documentation and intellectual property are accurately maintained.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to solve complex engineering challenges and optimize assembly efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineering staff by sharing best practices and supporting technical growth.
- Support pre-production and launch activities on the manufacturing floor to confirm design intent is executed correctly.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in product design and development, preferably in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
- Expert CAD proficiency (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA) and strong working knowledge of GD&T standards.
- Proven experience leading product launches and managing complex engineering programs.
- Strong analytical capability, including stack-up analysis and simulation studies.

Preferred
- ASME certification in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with patent application processes and intellectual property management
- Active membership in professional engineering organizations
- Advanced knowledge of PFMEA and DFMEA methodologies
Location: Holland, MI (onsite)
Compensation: USD 41 - 58 per hourly
