Product Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support the Corporate Engineering Manager in defining customer-focused product objectives, specification priorities, and performance norms
• Collaborate with marketing and sales to guide product evolution
• Maintain specifications and attributes across the company catalog
• Audit production processes and parameters to ensure product type specifications are met
• Prepare periodic status updates for leadership teams
• Ensure compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies
• Partner with end users and external specifying engineers to offer appropriate products for specific applications
• Oversee ongoing product development related to specifications and end user markets
• Explore specification opportunities to enter new markets in coordination with the sales teams
• Manage compliance with customer specifications and collaborate with Quality Assurance and Control to ensure adherence
• Serve as the primary interface with outside customers for electrical product inquiries and clarifications

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field required; advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is a plus
• At least three years of experience in design, specification engineering, or a related field preferred
• Industrial experience required; wire and cable or electrical background preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in specification work, preferably within the electrical industry
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven time management ability and track record of meeting deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with multiple teams
• Experience with quality systems and an understanding of specification requirements
• Strong working knowledge of ETap and circuit design software
• Experience with UL, ASTM, ICEA and NFPA wire and cable regulations is a plus
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence without direct authority
• Willingness to be available for technical inquiries as they arise
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
