Job Description

In Overland Park, Kansas, a seasoned Product Manager will take strategic ownership of Black & Veatch's portfolio of custom-built and hybrid engineering applications used by engineers across the organization. This onsite role focuses on guiding the full lifecycle of these internal tools, ensuring reliability, security, and alignment with DPOM governance while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet evolving business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the sustainability, operations, and functionality of custom, customized, and COTS-adjacent engineering applications throughout their full lifecycle.
  • Establish clear visibility and control over the portfolio.
  • Keep applications reliable and performant by accounting for software version changes, data integrity, and changing business requirements.
  • Make informed decisions on data structures, data flow, 2D/3D model manipulation, and upstream/downstream integrations.
  • Proactively manage technical debt, vendor dependencies, and platform constraints.
  • Collaborate with architecture, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams to embed security posture and compliance investments in roadmaps.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to ensure roadmaps include investments that improve system reliability, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Ensure investments support scalability and performance aligned to future demand.
  • Balance near-term feature delivery with foundational quality in line with DPOM's Secure, Resilient & Scalable principle.
  • Define and own product success metrics aligned to the DPOM Success Metrics & Governance framework.
  • Establish regular operating rhythms where metrics, not anecdotes, drive decisions (WBRs, portfolio reviews, roadmap checkpoints).
  • Foster a culture where progress, performance, and trade-offs are visible, trusted, and continuously refined to reinforce accountability across teams.
  • Act as the single-threaded owner for assigned products and portfolio segments, coordinating with engineering, UX, architecture, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders.
  • Coach teams and partners to adopt a product mindset and reinforce DPOM behaviors throughout the lifecycle.
