Job Description

Redwood Trust Inc is seeking a Product Owner to help shape and deliver technology solutions for its mortgage-related businesses. This onsite role in Englewood, CO blends backlog leadership with business and data analysis, bringing clarity to complex needs and supporting delivery through discovery, testing, training, and launch. The compensation range for this position is USD 100,000 - 135,000 per year.

What you’ll do

  • Own and prioritize the team backlog, keeping items well-groomed, clearly defined, and development-ready.
  • Translate business needs into problem statements and write user stories with actionable acceptance criteria.
  • Guide scrum execution by supporting sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily delivery through real-time requirement clarification and unblocking.
  • Define and maintain product vision, sprint goals, and release plans in partnership with the Product Manager and Scrum Master.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to align priorities and keep the product vision connected to strategic goals.
  • Drive agile best practices and continuous improvement across product, analytics, and delivery processes.
  • Use data analysis to inform product decisions and evaluate outcomes.
  • Monitor industry and mortgage-market trends that impact the product roadmap.
  • Elicit requirements through interviews, workshops, document analysis, and other discovery methods, focusing on the underlying problem users need solved.
  • Mediator between business and IT to manage competing requirements and establish realistic, reliable delivery schedules.
  • Manage multiple concurrent priorities with strong organizational discipline across stakeholders and deadlines.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of subject matter experience in residential or commercial mortgage areas.
  • 3+ years experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Data Analyst role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience owning a backlog in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear problem statements and translate them into user stories with strong acceptance criteria.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and workstreams at once.
  • Fast learning ability to pick up new domains, tools, and business context quickly in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile differing viewpoints, and abstract from details to business needs.
  • Knowledge of software application development lifecycles, including QA and UAT design and management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in financial services or the mortgage industry.
  • Experience with LauraMac software.
  • Familiarity driving implementation of AI-driven solutions.
  • Experience using GenAI tools to accelerate requirements documentation, testing, or workflow automation, and applying ML for predictive analytics.
