Job Description

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is hiring a Business Product Owner to lead business ownership and continuous improvement of Supply Chain digital capabilities. This hybrid, contract role in Boston acts as a bridge between business goals and technology delivery, turning strategic objectives into capabilities, requirements, and user stories while coordinating adoption and implementation readiness with DTE partners and cross-functional stakeholders.

What you’ll do

  • Translate strategic business objectives into business capabilities, operating models, business requirements, and user stories, and ensure those are translated to DTE partners.
  • Ensure digital solutions support end-to-end business processes across Supply Chain and adjacent functions.
  • Design future-state operating models that improve efficiency, transparency, and decision making.
  • Lead cross-functional and global workshops to define future-state business processes, operating models, and business capabilities.
  • Build alignment across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, QA, MSAT, Commercial Operations, DTE/IT, and other business functions with differing priorities.
  • Facilitate business decision-making and help resolve cross-functional issues related to process, data, and governance.
  • Drive endorsement of business processes, operating models, and functional requirements before implementation.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with DTE partners, business validation, and business sign-off.
  • Support deployment planning, implementation readiness, and adoption activities.
  • Partner with DTE to confirm delivered capabilities meet agreed business expectations.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business discipline (preferred) or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • 6+ years of related work experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or medical device companies.
  • Ability to analyze straightforward problems and develop solutions using technical experience and judgment, with escalation for unusual or complex issues.
  • Capability to balance customer expectations with internal team expectations.
  • Robust knowledge across supply chain disciplines.
  • Strong aptitude for managing and motivating others and building team unity.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high effectiveness.
  • High level understanding of GMP processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to exchange relevant, sometimes complex, information cross-functionally and ensure understanding.

Contract details

  • Contract length: 12 months, with a chance to extend.
  • Pay range: $80/hr to $90/hr.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Location: Boston, MA (hybrid).
  • Job type: Contract.
