Sr. Product Manager, Future Systems Platforms

Intuitive Surgical is building and evolving software platform solutions that support multiple generations of the da Vinci systems. In this individual-contributor role on the da Vinci Multiport Global Product Management team, you will help translate customer and clinical insights into clear software product requirements, align cross-functional teams, and steward decisions through the software development lifecycle.

What you’ll do

• Lead development and support multiple generations of system software platform solutions across their lifecycle.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to guide successful product launches and provide strategic expertise during product development and global launch phases.
• Serve as a key development and design stage stakeholder for multiple projects, informing future portfolio strategy recommendations and budgeting.
• Discover and translate customer and clinical insights into user needs and software product requirements.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across stakeholders involved in defining and delivering system software capabilities.
• Steward decisions through medical device design controls and the software development lifecycle, with rigor and clear communication.
• Build a VOC engine spanning surgeons, OR staff, and admins, synthesizing input into problem statements and user journeys.
• Define and maintain user needs, scenarios, and priority jobs-to-be-done for system software and the user experience.
• Convert user needs into software product requirements covering functional, performance, safety, usability, cybersecurity, service, and interoperability, including rationale and acceptance criteria.
• Build trusted partnerships with software engineering, clinical, human factors, UX and industrial design, and regulatory teams to set and communicate system software direction.
• Drive human factors studies and incorporate findings into iterative design decisions.
• Develop an understanding of surgical workflows, surgeon ergonomics, and OR environment constraints through direct observation and physician engagement.
• Make disciplined trade-off decisions across features, timeline, cost, and regulatory complexity.
• Develop final product definition using customer needs, technical considerations, and business inputs, which may include I&A and other business units.
• Ensure software subsystem requirements enable seamless integration with the system and broader platform architecture.
• Establish prioritization frameworks and software development milestones that balance innovation goals with regulatory and manufacturing realities.

Compensation

• Salary range: USD 149,900 - 253,700 per yearly
• Base compensation range region 1: $176,300 USD - $253,700 USD
• Base compensation range region 2: $149,900 USD - $215,600 USD

Minimum qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 4 years
• Education: Minimum Bachelors degree
• Minimum 4 years in a medical device role with 8 or more years cumulative professional experience
• Demonstrated prior experience in the essential job duties listed above

Travel requirements

• 25% travel; global travel required
• Portions of travel require being in a hospital operating room during live surgery
• Ability to attain hospital credentialing to access facilities

Preferred skills and experience

• MBA
• Product Management experience in the Medical Device industry
• Professional engineering experience in highly regulated industry (example: medical device) preferred in software development
• Applied AI/ML product experience
• UI/UX experience
