Job Description
The Hartford is hiring an Agile Product Owner (Data Product Owner) to drive day-to-day agile execution for data modernization teams and translate data product vision into sprint delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day agile product execution for one or more teams supporting Data Modernization initiatives
- Translate data product vision and modernization objectives into sprint goals, prioritized stories, and measurable outcomes
- Maintain the data product backlog with clarity, readiness, and alignment to business value
- Break down features into user stories with acceptance criteria and a clear definition of done
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to define and deliver cloud-based data products and capabilities
- Identify and prioritize opportunities across data quality, accessibility, usability, and scalability
- Accept completed stories and validate solutions meet expectations and create business value
- Act as the voice of the customer, business, and data consumer within the agile team(s)
- Collaborate with Agile Product Managers, business leaders, and stakeholders to refine priorities and roadmap objectives
- Understand enterprise data creation, consumption, and dependencies across business processes
- Ensure backlog items reflect business needs, customer outcomes, modernization goals, and technical feasibility
- Partner with stakeholders to define data product requirements, success measures, and adoption goals
- Use feedback from demos and stakeholder input to inform future iterations
- Work closely with Scrum Masters, Architects, Tech Leads, Data Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders to support alignment and delivery readiness
- Engage with SMEs and business partners to clarify requirements and drive shared understanding
- Facilitate alignment on data definitions, ownership, business context, and expected outcomes
- Cascade updates and decisions to teams and stakeholders with clarity
- Partner with Data Steward to create and maintain product documentation, business definitions, and requirements for transparency and adoption
- Support business readiness and change management for new data products and capabilities
- Monitor delivery metrics, product outcomes, and team health to identify improvement opportunities
- Support adoption by helping stakeholders understand value and impact
- Keep work aligned to OKRs, modernization objectives, and value stream goals
- Connect business objectives to data product investments
- Build trusted relationships across business and technology teams
- Bring structure and clarity to complex data-related challenges
- Balance immediate business needs with long-term modernization goals
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a product owner, business analyst, digital, technology, or related role
- Experience supporting data-focused initiatives, reporting, analytics, or modernization programs is beneficial but not required
- Analytical mindset with comfort using data to inform decisions and validate outcomes
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks: SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP
- Hands-on knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Rally, and Microsoft products
- Foundational understanding of data concepts: data flows, data products, analytics, reporting, and cloud-based data platforms
- Exposure to Snowflake, business intelligence platforms, or cloud ecosystems helpful (deep technical expertise not required)
- Growth mindset, curiosity, and interest in solving business problems through data and technology
- Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results
- Strong partnership and influencing skills across business, technology, and data teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences

Work Arrangement
- Hybrid or remote work schedule
- If you live near an office: expectation of working in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday through Thursday)
- If you do not live near an office: remote work with expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise
Compensation
- Annualized base pay range: $100,000 - $150,000
- Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition
Location: Hartford, CT (hybrid).
