Associate Product Owner

Points North is seeking an Associate Product Owner to join as an individual contributor, focused on hands-on delivery for partner integrations. In this role, you will shape integration requirements and documentation, partner with Engineering and QA, and help turn customer and partner needs into reliable integration workflows and releases.

Role overview

You will own integration requirements, documentation, and outcomes while making day-to-day product decisions for integration design in alignment with broader company objectives. The work includes translating integration needs into product workflows, API requirements, data mapping expectations, and operational support considerations, with measurable outcomes that balance stability, retention, customer value, and modernization.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements, documentation, and outcomes for partner integrations, including ongoing product decisions for integration design aligned to company objectives.
• Translate integration needs into clear product workflows, API requirements, data mapping expectations, and operational support considerations.
• Define measurable outcomes and priorities that balance stability and retention, customer value, and modernization.
• Write epics, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria for Engineering and QA execution and testing.
• Participate in the Agile product development process.
• Use data and feedback loops (support trends, customer escalations, implementation insights, adoption signals, and partner feedback) to improve the integration experience and retention.
• Coordinate and deliver release communications, including what changed, who it impacts, why it matters, and how to use it, for integration-related releases.

Requirements

• Proven ability to deliver outcomes as a strong individual contributor end to end, from discovery through delivery to results.
• Excellent written communication, including clear requirements, decision logs, release notes, and stakeholder updates.
• Experience working closely with Engineering and QA, with comfort exploring edge cases, tradeoffs, and technical constraints.
• Familiarity with at least one of: prevailing wage/union compliance (federal/state/local) OR construction payroll/compliance operations.
• Enjoyment of being close to the work, including writing, refining, triaging, talking with customers, and shipping continuously.
• Comfort collaborating across cross-functional teams and with partners.
• Preference for execution over authority or managing a team.
• Ability to handle complexity and translate it into simple, usable experiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent and relevant working experience).
• 2+ years of professional experience in product management with B2B SaaS products.
• 1+ years’ experience working closely with partners on integrations to ensure mutual success.
• 1+ years’ experience in regulated domains where accuracy and explainability are critical (payroll, tax, HR, compliance, fintech).
• Demonstrated capability defining and delivering API-based integrations, including integration patterns (REST APIs, webhooks, and file-based interchange where applicable) and knowledge of data mapping/validation, error handling, reconciliation, and operational support needs.
• Understanding of enterprise integration expectations, including security, reliability, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Willingness to travel to Minneapolis, MN.

Compensation and location

• Location: Remote (remote)
• Salary: USD 85,000 - 100,000 per year

First 6–12 months

• Build strong working knowledge of the platform and the real-world customer workflows it supports.
• Clarify how integrations fit into clients’ lifecycle and retention, reflected in a focused, outcome-based roadmap.
• Help ensure integrations are built from a solidified plan, with testing and user experience coverage across multiple clients prior to official release.
