Data Product Owner
Job Description
Ziosk is seeking a highly experienced Data Product Owner to lead the Enterprise Data department’s POD as an on-site role in Plano, TX. In this position, you will own the Enterprise Data POD roadmap, guide prioritization, and deliver data products that serve internal teams, brand partners, and broader product organizations.
Enterprise Data POD Ownership
- Own the Enterprise Data POD product roadmap, including quarterly priorities, the prioritized backlog, and sprint-level commitments.
- Conduct backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder reviews on a consistent cadence to keep the team aligned on what is next and why.
- Manage trade-offs and communicate them clearly, including what the team is building, what it is not building, the rationale for timing, what is next, and what is blocked.
Outcome KPIs and Performance Tracking
- Define and track two Enterprise Data POD outcome KPIs: Brand Onboarding Velocity and Decision Time to Insight.
- Partner with leadership to set KPI baselines and targets, ensuring measures reflect outcomes the organization cares about.
Product Requirements and Acceptance Criteria
- Translate brand partner needs, internal Sales/CS requirements, and executive priorities into clear product requirements.
- Write product requirements with acceptance criteria to support delivery and alignment across stakeholders.
Intake, Prioritization, and Reporting Routing
- Route ad-hoc data and reporting requests through a prioritized intake process.
- Replace the standalone BI Analyst function and keep engineers focused on roadmap delivery.
Partner Enablement and External Positioning
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, and CS to position data products externally for brand-facing demos, Mid-Market analytics pitches, and customer enablement.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of product management experience, including at least 3 years owning data, analytics, BI, or ML products.
- Proven experience setting and tracking product KPIs that the team is measured on, avoiding vanity metrics.
- Strong data fluency, including comfort reading SQL, understanding pipeline architecture at a high level, and discussing trade-offs with engineers.
- Experience running an agile backlog (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid) and using prioritization frameworks such as RICE or weighted shortest job first.
- Strong stakeholder management, including the ability to say “no” or “not now” to executives and brand partners while maintaining relationships.
- Excellent written communication, including the ability to produce PRDs, status updates, decision logs, and executive briefs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Product Owner in a POD, squad, or cross-functional team model, especially launching a POD from scratch.
- Background in restaurant technology, retail technology, hospitality, or an industry with brand-partner or franchise dynamics.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Dash, or modern analytics stacks.
- Familiarity with AI products and challenges of ownership such as evals, model risk, and slow feedback loops.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
