Mgr, Product Owner

Lam Research is building products through its Product Management & Experience (PME) organization, and this role sits within that team as a senior, hands-on Product Owner Manager. You will both lead a group of Product Owners and actively run product execution within a defined scope, using clear backlog practices and metrics-led decision-making to support reliable delivery across engineering partners.

Working in Fremont, CA (hybrid), you will translate product strategy and business intent into priorities and outcomes, while coaching other Product Owners toward high-quality execution and consistent ways of working.

What you’ll do

• Operate as a practicing Product Owner, turning product strategy and business intent into actionable priorities, backlogs, and delivery results within your execution scope.
• Develop and maintain high-quality backlog artifacts, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting requirements to enable engineering teams to execute with low ambiguity.
• Drive metrics-informed prioritization and tradeoff decisions so day-to-day execution stays aligned to broader product and business goals.
• Act as the primary execution decision-maker, providing timely clarification and resolving ambiguity for engineering and design partners.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers, determining when direct intervention is needed versus when escalation is appropriate.
• Manage, coach, and develop Product Owners through regular feedback, performance management, and ongoing support for skill growth and role mastery.
• Ensure consistency across independently operating Product Owners using lightweight governance and sound judgment, focusing on exception-based intervention rather than continuous oversight.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, and UX leadership to surface systemic issues, align expectations, and improve Product Owner practices across the organization.

What you’ll bring

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical work experience).
• 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, including substantial hands-on responsibility for backlog ownership, prioritization, and engineering execution.
• 2+ years of direct people management experience, including coaching, performance feedback, and development of individual contributors.
• Experience delivering enterprise software, B2B products, or data or analytic product platforms in complex organizational environments.
• Strong working knowledge of Agile methodology and supporting frameworks, with the ability to apply them pragmatically in real delivery environments.
• Proven ability to work as a player-coach, balancing personal PO execution with people leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated effectiveness collaborating with matrixed stakeholders across product management, engineering, UX, business users, and leadership.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Jira or other requirement management software.
• Certification in advanced Agile or scaling frameworks.
• Exposure to the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework.

Compensation: USD 125,000 - 270,000 per year.
