Product Owner
Job Description
OneSource Virtual is seeking a remote Product Owner for the TaxEx product. Join an experienced software team to gather requirements, craft user stories, and guide the full development lifecycle, delivering frequent high-quality releases through Agile practices.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with an established software team across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to design, development, and delivery of new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and technology upgrades.
- Operate within Agile frameworks (Scrum or Kanban) and can step in as Scrum Master to lead daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives as needed.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, refining user stories to provide clear direction for the development team.
- Conduct deep dives into payroll tax processes, including imports, schedules, impounds, remittances, and filing workflows.
- Apply payroll tax expertise to assess and advise on the development and deployment of OneSource Virtual's proprietary software solutions.
- Serve as the primary liaison among business owners, stakeholders, and the development team to translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions.
- Contribute to solution design and support efforts related to QA, end user testing and training, change management, and process redesign for enhancements and new solutions.
- Document solutions using appropriate tools to clearly communicate requirements, roles, and responsibilities to business and technical users.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a payroll tax or similarly regulated industry, performing analysis, requirements gathering, design, and development for enterprise applications.
- 5+ years of experience with payroll tax filing and/or payroll tax filing software.
- 3+ years of experience in process discovery and documentation, including developing flow diagrams for business users and developers interfacing with web-based systems.
- 3+ years of experience in defining business roles and documenting technical system specifications.
- Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications
- Required: 5+ years of progressive experience in a payroll tax or other highly regulated industry, performing analysis, requirements gathering, design and development duties in support of enterprise application systems.
- Required: 5+ years of experience with payroll tax filing and/or payroll tax filing software.
- Required: 3+ years of experience in process discovery and documentation including developing flow diagrams for business users and developers interfacing with web-based systems.
- Required: 3+ years of experience in defining business roles and documenting technical system specifications.
- Required: Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business or technology.
- Preferred: Prior experience with TaxEx software.
- Preferred: Prior experience working with cloud deployed web centric projects.
- Preferred: Prior experience with dynamic forms generation.
- Preferred: Prior experience in an Agile environment using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Rally.
