Product Owner II

Maritz Inc. is looking for a Product Owner II to help deliver technology products of moderate complexity, including AI-enabled features, that meet stakeholder needs and business requirements. In a hybrid setup, you will translate business value and goals into a refined product backlog while supporting product vision, backlog refinement, prioritization, and delivery with leadership guidance.

Role overview

You will partner closely with stakeholders to shape the product roadmap, define business value, and turn product direction into actionable product features and user stories. You will also ensure the delivery team has the context and information needed to execute, and you will validate outcomes through demos and stakeholder feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Vision (30%): Support product-level decisions and recommendations with a senior Product Manager by understanding product market fit, the product life cycle, and long-term strategy within the market.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain a product roadmap, including upcoming short-term goals, and communicate roadmap direction to the delivery team and other stakeholders.
• Translate product vision into specific product features and contribute to long-term planning through regular road mapping.
• Use AI-assisted tools to support research, documentation, and roadmap communication, with judgment on when AI outputs require validation from a senior team member.
• Refinement & Prioritization (40%): Identify business goals and problem statements to ensure the product aligns to them.
• Work with stakeholders to define what business value means, and apply that definition when assessing features and stories.
• Understand stakeholders’ product vision and help define it so the team builds the right product.
• Identify requirements and work with the delivery team to write, refine, and review or approve user stories.
• Understand the product users, including other systems that may consume the product.
• Prioritize backlog work to maximize the value delivered by the team.
• Delivery & Leadership (30%): Help ensure delivered products meet stakeholder needs and business requirements.
• Ensure the team understands product vision and the context of backlog stories, with adequate information to deliver.
• Demo the product to clients and stakeholders to confirm delivered work meets stakeholder needs.
• Assess delivery progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other Product Owners (internal and client) to share and apply best practices.
• Monitor product metrics and help identify opportunities to increase business value under the guidance of a Product Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or industry related experience preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a Product Owner technology related role or equivalent type experience.
• Developing experience helping stakeholders identify business value or objectives and using that to prioritize work.
• Working understanding of personas and how to identify users and represent their needs.
• Capable of researching, analyzing, and helping identify requirements.
• Developing ability to break down and organize requirements, with growing understanding of the relationship between business goals, product vision, and Epics/Features/Stories.
• Foundational balance of technical knowledge, business acumen, and Agile knowledge, including basic AI/data literacy and awareness of responsible AI practices.
• Developing consulting skills.
• Ability to contribute to end-to-end delivery across a variety of solutions and technologies using agile principles.

Location and schedule

• Fenton, MO (hybrid)
• Working three days per week at the Fenton, MO location: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Travel: 5%
