Canoe Intelligence is recruiting a Senior Product Owner for a hybrid role based in New York, NY. This position offers a competitive annual salary of USD 120,000 to 155,000 and requires a minimum of six years of Product Owner experience. The role centers on backlog stewardship, precise story writing, technical alignment, quality assurance, and agile facilitation across multiple development teams to deliver meaningful value.

Who We Are
Canoe is reimagining alternative investment data processes for hundreds of leading institutional investors, capital allocators, asset servicing firms and wealth managers. By combining industry expertise with the most sophisticated data capture technologies, Canoe’s technology automates the highly-frustrating, time-consuming, and costly manual workflows related to alternative investment document and data management, extraction and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own, prioritize, and refine the backlog for multiple teams, ensuring items are clearly defined, detailed, and sequenced to maximize business value.
- Write epic specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are clear and unambiguous for complex features.
- Collaborate with technical leads and architects to understand constraints, resource needs, and prioritization against technical debt.
- Be the sole decision maker for accepting product level enhancements, ensuring the team meets the definition of done and quality standards before release.
- Partner with engineers to define clear goals and lead key ceremonies to maintain focus, momentum, and alignment.
- Monitor key metrics and work with the team to identify and remove execution impediments and bottlenecks.
- Work closely with Product Managers to understand strategy and bring enhancements to life from concept to delivery.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of dedicated experience as a Product Owner in fast-paced, high-execution environments, specifically managing complex software products.
- Master-level understanding and practical application of Agile and Scrum principles; proven ability to drive day-to-day execution effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail in writing user stories and acceptance criteria; demonstrated commitment to quality and clear documentation.
- Strong background or foundational knowledge in software development processes, system integrations, and data flows to guide technical decision-making.
- Proven ability to communicate technical details and complex trade-offs clearly to engineering teams.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) certification is highly preferred.
