TAK Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner

COLSA Corporation has an opening for a Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner to support the U.S. Army’s TAK efforts in Huntsville, Alabama. In this onsite role, you will help design, develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot TAK solutions while translating end-user and government requirements into reliable software delivery.

You will work across the software lifecycle, contributing to systems-of-systems design, integrated client and server functionality, data pipeline work, and continuous flow delivery practices. The position also involves advising on system characteristics that can impact software behavior, supporting training and troubleshooting materials, and providing documentation input for existing and new software programs.

What you’ll do

• Design and orchestrate systems of systems, including clients, servers, data pipelines, and other integrated components.
• Design, develop, test, and implement software programs using Java, C++, Python, React, Go, or similar technologies.
• Support software development and delivery using Jira and Kanban-based continuous flow processes.
• Set up and maintain development environments for Windows and Linux, including containerized environments.
• Conduct merge request and pull request reviews to support software quality assurance.
• Develop and implement user-friendly interface requirements for software clients.
• Collaborate with team members and end users to analyze requirements, troubleshoot software issues, and deliver solutions aligned to end-user and government customer requirements.
• Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
• Perform data analysis and provide input for reports and dashboards, as needed.
• Develop or oversee user training, troubleshooting materials, and step-by-step guides.
• Advise hardware design engineers on system characteristics that may affect software systems, as needed.
• Provide input for documentation of new and existing software programs, as needed.

Skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Minimum 8–12 years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting systems integration efforts.
• Experience configuring and maintaining development environments, including Git-based version control, Linux, and Docker containerization.
• Experience with version control software and the Driessen branching model (Gitflow).
• Practical experience with front-end application development, including responsive, user-focused interfaces.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating custom interfaces, extensions, or plugins within existing software frameworks.
• Active Secret security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience leading software development teams.
• Experience with web development technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
• NLP experience using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures with LLMs.
• Computer vision experience with object detection or gait recognition using CNNs and YOLO models.
