Job Description
CACI is seeking a Software Product Owner to guide strategic execution for the team by owning scope decisions and release outcomes, working closely with engineering leadership to deliver capabilities that align with mission intent.
Role Overview
In this role, you will serve as the primary authority on scope and Go/No-Go decisions. You will collaborate with engineering leadership to manage release activities and ensure delivered functionality matches the original feature decomposition and mission intent.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Program Chief Engineer and Chief Architect to decompose high-level mission capabilities into discrete technical features.
- Reduce architectural ambiguity for development teams by providing the technical detail needed to start implementation, including defined API contracts and data flow diagrams.
- Own and groom the team backlog, ensuring stories are granular, technically sound, and aligned to Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) standards prior to sprint inclusion.
- Run agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, and work with the Lead Engineer to clear technical blockers.
- Validate completed work by confirming that implemented features meet mission intent and match the original decomposition before closing stories.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- B.S. degree or higher in a STEM field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience.
- 3+ years as a Technical Product Owner or Team Lead in an Agile environment.
- Strong technical and nontechnical communication capabilities, including writing and deriving requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to brief technical and nontechnical audiences on development progress, risks and opportunities, and proposals for new features.
- Ability to communicate system design using SysML, UML, Entity Relationship Diagrams, or equivalent System Modelling tools.
- Working knowledge of modern software stacks, including how CI/CD pipelines and microservice architectures affect delivery pace and feature sequencing.
- Experience with at least one cloud platform such as AWS or Azure.
- Proficiency in GitLab for issue tracking, milestone management, and boards.
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite: Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
- Experience with both Scrum and Kanban, including knowledge of when to use each.
