Technical Product Owner

Schwab Technology Services (STS) is seeking an individual contributor Technical Product Owner to help translate enterprise AI strategy into execution across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Shape how AI is adopted and scaled across the enterprise development community, influencing modern engineering practices
• Drive measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and engineering standards across the organization
• Translate enterprise AI strategy into priorities, actionable backlogs, and measurable outcomes for engineering teams
• Combine Agile product ownership with technical fluency in software development and AI-assisted engineering tools
• Align stakeholders to scale adoption across the enterprise using collaboration, transparency, and adaptability
• Guide one or more Scrum team(s) by translating needs and business imperatives from product vision and roadmaps into priorities
• Define success metrics, adoption goals, value measurement, and product KPIs
• Listen to development community needs and identify underlying problems to address
• Bring disclosure and transparency to the Scrum team to grow trust between business and development
• Facilitate discussion of issues and alternative approaches, resolving issues in a timely manner
• Write user stories and acceptance criteria
• Split large stories into smaller stories
• Refine, prioritize, and maintain the backlog
• Conduct release planning
• Conduct sprint planning
• Navigate sprint review activities
• Serve as a key testing partner

Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience leading development of products and systems in a large, complex enterprise environment
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and communicate tradeoffs, decisions, and progress to key stakeholders
• Transparency mindset, with the ability to bring disclosure and transparency to the Scrum team to build trust
• Conflict resolution skills to facilitate discussion of issues and alternatives and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Thorough understanding and appreciation for Agile values and principles
• Proven ability to perform: writing user stories and acceptance criteria; splitting large stories; refining, prioritizing, and maintaining the backlog; release planning; sprint planning; navigating sprint review activities; serving as key testing partner
• Strong grasp of software development and technology
• Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Product Manager certification
• Prior experience using Jira and Rally
• Knowledge of AI-assisted developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Copilot Chat, Claude Code, Cursor, Amazon Q Developer, or similar
• Technical fluency in software development, SDLC, DevOps, and engineering platforms
• Comfort working in ambiguity, helping teams move from experimentation to scalable enterprise adoption

Salary: USD 129,000 - 170,000 per year
