Vice President, Product Design
Job Description
BNY Wealth Services is seeking a Vice President of Product Design to lead user-centered design efforts across our complex systems. This onsite role in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, collaborates across product, engineering, and operations to shape experiences that are intuitive, impactful, and grounded in user research.
Responsibilities
- Lead with a user-first mindset, translating research insights into product experiences that address real user needs.
- Map end-to-end user journeys across customers, operations, servicing teams, and systems to identify pain points and opportunities, aligning teams on a shared vision of user needs.
- Design complex web interfaces and workflows that are highly functional and visually engaging, creating intuitive layouts, navigation patterns, and interaction models for intricate systems; thoughtfully incorporate animation and micro-interactions to guide users.
- Utilize advanced design tools to produce high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups that clearly communicate interaction models and UI specifications.
- Contribute to and shape a global design system to ensure visual consistency across interfaces, developing reusable workflow patterns and components.
- Apply systems thinking to distill intricate requirements into clear design solutions that facilitate user understanding and interaction with complex systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design efforts with business goals while respecting technical constraints.
- Articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders, using storytelling to align others with the product vision.
- Mentor junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and elevate team standards to foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
Requirements
- A portfolio is required to be considered for this position. Portfolios may be provided as a Figma link, PDF, or personal site.
- Typically 5 or more years of experience, or equivalent expertise demonstrated through portfolio and leadership impact.

- Interaction and UI Design – Demonstrate mastery of complex web interfaces and workflows, creating functional and visually engaging products with intuitive layouts and interaction models; employ animation and micro-interactions to guide users.
- Proficiency in Design Tools – Advance skills in Figma and Miro to craft high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups communicating interaction models and UI specs.

- Design System Knowledge – Experience contributing to a global design system to maintain visual consistency and reusable components across teams.
- Complex Systems Knowledge – Ability to distill intricate requirements into clear design solutions that support user understanding and interaction within complex systems.
