Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Level 5 Software Engineer/Product Owner to help define what teams build next, ensure priorities are clear to stakeholders, and support delivery of high-value capabilities on schedule. This onsite role is based in Aurora, CO and requires an active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time of application.

You will own the product backlog and partner with stakeholders to translate goals into actionable priorities, while guiding development teams to execute with speed and alignment. Compensation for this position has a primary annual range of $177,000.00 - $265,600.00, with additional pay elements depending on the position.

Define and prioritize the product backlog to support high-impact delivery.
Align stakeholder goals so teams understand what success looks like and why it matters.
Guide development teams to deliver high-value features on schedule.

Requirements

Level 5 criteria: Bachelor’s degree in science with 12+ years of software development experience; or a Master’s with 10+ years; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application.
Java: 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
Version control: Firm understanding of version control using Git and workflows on GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
Agile delivery: Demonstrated success with Agile processes.
Cloud-native/containerization: Experience with Containerization, Kubernetes, and/or Helm charts.
Atlassian tools: Experience with Atlassian tools.

Salary: USD 86,800 - 165,200 per year

What you will do

Define and communicate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a ground system component, ensuring alignment across program teams and stakeholders
Collaborate with the Scrum Master and engineering teams to plan and deliver Program Increments within a SAFe Agile environment
Translate customer needs, mission objectives, and operational concepts into concrete technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and system designs
Prioritize and manage the team backlog, balancing feature development, technical debt, and program objectives
Lead readiness reviews, design reviews, demonstrations, and technical presentations for customers and senior program leadership
Develop and communicate technical documentation, implementation guidance, and product strategies across the organization

Qualifications you must have

A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least five years of relevant experience
Experience in a leadership role such as Product Owner, Product Manager, or Technical Lead within an Agile development environment
Experience with satellite ground systems, mission operations, or systems engineering functions like requirements management, interface definition, and technical risk management
Experience using Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence, with familiarity in DevSecOps and CI/CD environments
Active TS/SCI security clearance that is transferable, with U.S. citizenship required

Qualifications we prefer

Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams across systems, software, integration, and test disciplines
Familiarity with automated testing and software factory tools such as Cucumber, Gherkin, and Zephyr
Experience developing software in Java, C++, Python, or similar languages
Background in Satellite Ground System development or operations
