Adaptive Engines Mechanical Systems Product Owner
Job Description
Join Pratt & Whitney’s Mechanical Systems Product Owner team and help advance Adaptive Engines Mechanical Systems. This onsite role combines Product Owner leadership with technical risk management and program execution across component goals, including EVMS/CAM activities and cross-functional collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Own part-level CIPT scope, including planning, communication, risk management, and execution of program requirements.
- Lead a Scrum Team to identify, manage, and close key technical risks and issues.
- Guide the team through technical and program reviews and help ensure deliverables stay aligned with program objectives.
- Manage Scrum Team schedules, budgets, and metrics (technical and business) to meet program requirements.
- Perform Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Control Account Manager (CAM) activities for the assigned scope.
- Collaborate with customers, System Integrated Product Teams (SIPTs), Integrated Program Management Teams (IPMTs), senior management, suppliers, and cross-functional organizations, including technical support for engine validation builds and testing.

What you bring
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required as only U.S. citizens are eligible.
- DoD Secret clearance type; active and existing security clearance required after day 1.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in one or more of: Manufacturing, Military, Logistics, Aerospace, or Aviation.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with experience in the aerospace or turbofan engine industry.
- Basic understanding of Pratt & Whitney’s Leadership Operating Model (LOM) or a similar operating model.
- Agile project management experience, including working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams on strategic projects; strong resourcefulness and problem-solving for complex vendor- and customer-facing challenges.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean, CORE, ACE, or Six Sigma, with ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using tools/systems such as Solumina, SAP, Teamcenter, or similar applications.

About the team
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, EXTERNALS, & NACELLES (MSEN) is responsible for design, development, and in-service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, and nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, mechanical design analysis for bearings, gears, and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.
Location, schedule, and travel
- Onsite in East Hartford, CT, United States.
- 9/80 Work Schedule.
- Travel: up to 10% (Domestic).
- Relocation: Eligible for Relocation.
Compensation and benefits
Salary range: USD 107,500 to 204,500 per year. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on level and collective-bargaining coverage; payments are not guaranteed and depend on factors including individual performance, business unit performance, and company performance.
