Custom Products Manager

This role leads the Custom Products Division’s daily operations, ensuring custom work moves through kitting, assembly, scheduling, and quality checks with accuracy, safety, and on-time delivery.

What you’ll do

Lead and manage Steiner Electric’s Custom Products Group operations, covering kitting, light assembly, work order processing, production scheduling, quality control, and daily personnel management.

• Oversee completed product build outcomes to ensure work is accurate to customer specifications, efficient, and completed on time.
• Manage and train Custom Products staff on completed products, processes, and divisional requirements.
• Create accurate Custom Product quotes for customers, account managers, and inside sales by estimating material, setup time, labor time, and completion time.
• Conduct thorough time studies for CPG kits and support production when needed.
• Maintain accurate CPG kit costs and notify the pricing department and sales teams of price increases.
• Instruct inside sales on new CPG kit order entry.
• Process incoming CPG orders by creating work order BOMs and scheduling work.
• Transfer, expedite, and receive kit material from other branches as needed, and organize in-process work orders.
• Process completed work orders by verifying BOM accuracy, adding CPG labor time, and ensuring completed cost is equal to or under quoted/system cost.
• Complete sales order and transfer paperwork, including shipping when required.
• Maintain the CPG work order template network with current materials and negotiated costs.
• Keep CPG kit folders current with prints, instructions, supplemental work order instructions, BOMs, and training logs.
• Maintain detailed records of completed work orders, categorized by month.
• Generate Divisional Sales History, GP, Production, and Failure Rates, and provide statistical reports to senior management when requested.

What you bring

• Associate degree or equivalent training and experience in a production environment.
• Knowledge of electricity, motors, transformers, and electrical circuitry, including managing staff to meet production requirements.
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and written instructions for quotes and staff training.
• Ability to provide detailed cost quotes including material, labor time, and turnaround time, and conduct time studies to keep finished products on or under budget.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail.
• Ability to operate hand tools such as drills, saws, soldering equipment, wire strippers, crimpers, electrical test equipment, and welding equipment.
• Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, and Job Rec (Windows-based). Ability to learn job-related functions within the company operating system.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: USD 87,000 to 90,000 per year.
