Product Manager I - Custom Air Handling Systems

Johnson Controls is seeking a Product Manager I for Custom Air Handling Systems in York, PA. This onsite role applies HVAC and air handling systems expertise to capture customer and market input, support product strategy and roadmaps, and coordinate cross-functional execution for custom product introductions and enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Collect customer, sales, and market feedback to identify opportunities for product improvements and innovation.
• Track industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings.
• Support market research and customer engagement activities.
• Assist in building and executing product roadmaps and portfolio plans.
• Help evaluate new product concepts and business opportunities.
• Contribute to product lifecycle decisions and long-term strategic planning.
• Partner with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to advance product initiatives.
• Translate customer needs into clear product requirements.
• Support the successful introduction of new products, features, and capabilities.
• Act as a technical resource for custom air handling products.
• Assess product enhancement opportunities and associated customer requirements.
• Support development of technical content, training materials, and sales tools.
• Gain exposure to product management, pricing strategy, business planning, and portfolio management.
• Monitor product performance and key business metrics.
• Develop skills that support future leadership opportunities within Product Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC, Air Handling Systems, Application Engineering, Project Engineering, Product Engineering, Technical Sales, or related disciplines.
• Understanding of commercial HVAC systems and air handling equipment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and disciplines.
• Ability to travel as required 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with custom air handling units or applied HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with HVAC selection and configuration tools.
• Experience working directly with customers, consulting engineers, contractors, or sales teams.
