Development Product Owner I (Mid-level) - Next Best Experience Platform

Job Description

USAA is building a Next Best Experience platform that delivers the right member experience in the right channel at the right time across the full lifecycle. In this hybrid role in San Antonio, TX, you will support and enable the product roadmap and execution for the organization’s centralized decisioning and orchestration capabilities, representing the business on Agile delivery teams and helping translate business vision into work that teams can build, test, and release.

What you will do

  • Partner with business leaders and Subject Matter Experts to understand strategy and vision, then write, refine, accept, and prioritize user stories and/or features that balance investment, business value, and compliance needs.
  • Own and maintain a prioritized product backlog for one or more Agile teams, ensuring stories include complete acceptance criteria so they are consumable and testable.
  • Review and accept output from IT and/or business development to confirm acceptance criteria are met.
  • Act as a direct business representative on one or more delivery teams, bringing the customer perspective into the product delivery lifecycle.
  • Define and adhere to release schedules with development teams and product managers, providing business validation and support, including evening and weekend availability for production deployments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with user experience partners, designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to develop, execute, and release in alignment with program and/or product roadmaps.
  • Work with sponsors, stakeholders, and IT to facilitate translation of business requirements, building understanding of needs, measures, and risk & controls for the improvement area.
  • Support change efforts by assisting stakeholders with adoption, leveraging change management routines as needed, and providing tactics and metrics for benefits, adoption, and risk.
  • Execute robust testing activities, including user acceptance testing and production validation.
  • Ensure risks tied to business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree; or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 4 years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or directly related supported business operations/product line.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, applicable databases, and project management tools.
  • Proficiency with multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and identify opportunities to streamline processes in accordance with a risk management framework and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices.
  • Experience working independently to gather requirements, define process flows and use cases, write user stories, and follow the development process through user story acceptance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying issues, analyzing options, and prioritizing decisions.

Work environment and location

This position is in a flexible work environment that requires you to be in the office 4 days per week. It is based in one of: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available.

Compensation and eligibility

Salary range: $85,040 - $162,550 per year. Actual salary may vary by location. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
