Job Description

United Launch Alliance offers the chance to help define and deliver ground software capabilities that support launch vehicle, pad, and mission integration operations. This onsite role in Centennial, CO works within a cross-functional agile scrum team, partnering with engineering and mission stakeholders to turn operational needs into testable, verifiable software. Alongside meaningful work, ULA provides competitive compensation and a flexible lifestyle, including a 9/80 schedule for many salaried team members (every other Friday off).

Responsibilities

  • Support an agile scrum team by helping define product vision, maintaining the backlog, and converting stakeholder needs into actionable work items.
  • Develop and refine clear, testable software requirements that reflect operational needs, including integration with vehicle, pad, and mission systems under senior team guidance.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, architects, and interface owners to align requirements and features with system architecture and mission operations.
  • Assist with requirement decomposition, traceability, acceptance criteria development, and validation planning across the software lifecycle.
  • Work with system owners to understand expected software behaviors, interfaces, timing constraints, and data flows for accurate representation in ground software products.
  • Participate in design discussions with software developers to support alignment between implementation and functional or system-level expectations.
  • Contribute to backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization, balancing technical needs with operational priorities and stakeholder input.
  • Support review of verification results, user acceptance tests, and IV&V findings to confirm delivered software meets requirements and operational intent.
  • Assist with cross-team coordination to identify dependencies, integration needs, and gaps across GSW, avionics, GSE, and mission integration organizations.
  • Help maintain documentation, configuration management, and compliance with standards relevant to ground software systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 4 years of related work experience
  • Experience working on an agile development team
  • Experience independently designing, developing, and delivering solutions to difficult software/hardware problems
  • Experience presenting hardware/software system architecture and designs to internal audiences and external customers
  • Experience authoring, executing, and reviewing software products and their implementation across the full software development life cycle
  • Experience with object-oriented designs and languages
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management practices, including Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with Git

  • Salary: USD 113,122 - 188,537 per yearly (ULA - Denver only: $113,122.00 - $188,537.00)
