Lead, Systems Engineer

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead, Systems Engineer for an onsite role in Rockwall, TX, supporting a DoD technology program delivered within SAFe on an Agile Release Train (ART). This position emphasizes collaboration on real-time networking applications, engineering guidance across critical system areas, and disciplined execution through quarterly program increment delivery.

What you’ll do

• Partner with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to report customer-facing agile development status, including progress across bi-weekly sprints and the quarterly execution cycle.
• Work closely with Product Owners to refine Epics so they are clearly understood by the teams.
• Provide technical leadership and direction for critical system components and integrations, supporting development and integration teams while informing Risk and Opportunity for the program.
• Help communicate the technical vision to the team and support backlog prioritization aligned to program-level objectives.
• Review agile metrics produced by the tool sets with the RTE to help prioritize work and predict potential schedule slippage.
• Maintain program transparency using Scaled Agile Process tools, including Confluence, Jira, PI Planning, and Sprint Reviews, as well as customer reviews.
• Support customer satisfaction and trust by ensuring quarterly software package delivery is on time and within budget.
• Travel may be required to support customer objectives, up to 10%.

What you bring

• Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 9 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with at least 7 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree: minimum 13 years of related experience.

Schedule

9/80 schedule: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days (80 hours total), with every other Friday off.

Preferred additional skills

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels, including Director and above.
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
• SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager certification or equivalent.
• Experience working on the NCCT program as a Product Owner.
• Understanding of cloud software development lifecycle concepts, including CI/CD.
• Experience as a Product Owner supporting multiple team compositions (Development, Systems, Platform, etc.).
• Advanced SAFe certification such as Agile Product Manager or SAFe Practice Consultant, or equivalent.
