Job Description

In this role, you will provide product design engineering support to strengthen new part creation, improve quality, and increase technology and production output. The position is onsite in Kansas City and includes ownership of design documentation, ERP entries, and coordination with manufacturing and customer-facing teams.

Role Overview

You will be accountable for the design, fabrication, cost, and supply elements of designated product lines. Core responsibilities include creating CAD drawing and work instruction materials, entering and maintaining ERP bill of materials (BOM) and routing information, and supporting manufacturing processes to support manufacturability, process flow, and material utilization. You will also participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing manufacturing cost while maintaining or improving quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create new parts and revise existing parts to meet customer specifications.
  • Enter routings and bill of materials (BOMs) in the ERP system.
  • Ensure existing routings and BOMs remain updated and accurate.
  • Debug fit, form, and/or function issues in the product.
  • Train Sefar personnel on manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop working knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, tooling, and design requirements within assigned product lines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at lowering manufacturing cost while maintaining or improving quality.
  • Assist the Quality Department in investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Conduct testing on new and existing products.
  • Provide technical support functions internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, marketing, and/or engineers on product design.
  • Support manufacturing with process optimization.
  • Perform product estimating to determine manufacturing costs.
  • Prepare internal documentation to communicate project planning and design concepts, including material yield estimates, bill of materials and design router, and design, tooling, and/or production drawings.
  • Provide additional project details that affect cost estimates, such as special packaging, shipping costs, and tooling.
  • Understand, utilize, and improve Sefar policies and procedures as appropriate to complete related tasks.
  • Accept other assignments as directed by Management.
  • Perform duties within management’s right to assign or reassign responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A four-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use CAD, Microsoft Office applications, IBM Notes, Infor LN (ERP), and a Windows operating environment.
  • Knowledge of industrial filtration, technical fabrics, sewing, slitting, and/or web converting is beneficial.

Compensation

USD 50,000 - 75,000 per year

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Travel and Work Location

  • Travel may be required to facilitate training activities, project work, and customer support.
  • Travel expectations are less than 10% of the time.
