Product Design Manager II, Ad Formats
Job Description
Pinterest offers a Seattle, WA hybrid role for a Product Design Manager II with a salary range of USD 158,765 to 326,870 per year. In this position, you’ll lead the Ad Formats Performance Pod as a player-coach, guiding a design team and partnering with product management, engineering, product marketing, and research to create conversion-focused ad formats and improve long-term outcomes through AI-enabled workflows.
Responsibilities
- Define the Ad Formats Performance Pod’s vision, spanning consumer-facing ad experiences, advertiser creation tooling, formats development, and AI automation adoption, and guide the team to think bigger and innovate.
- Act as a player-coach for a four-designer team, staying hands-on and contributing executional design work as needed, with or without additional IC support.
- Collaborate with product and engineering partners to shape product strategy, roadmaps, processes, and culture for the Pod.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, data-driven, experimental environment while keeping user needs and the big picture in focus.
- Model and maintain a high standard of design execution across projects through mentorship and hands-on demonstrations.
- Nurture growth within the team through coaching and development opportunities.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate the team's workflows and pioneer new AI applications within the process and product experience.
Requirements
- Proven track record envisioning, shipping, and iterating digital ad products in close collaboration with product management and engineering.
- Learner and builder mindset, with the ability to quickly onboard emerging AI tools and apply them appropriately in the full product development lifecycle, focusing on decision quality, craft, and efficiency; capable of mentoring teammates.
- Ability to balance multiple stakeholder needs and lead several concurrent workstreams.
- Clear, confident communication skills; able to explain complex design decisions and tradeoffs in ways that align cross-functional partners.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high bar for quality across flows, states, and edge cases.
- Experience designing within and extending design systems; deep understanding of layout, typography, color, and core interaction and information design principles.
- High level of self-awareness and a growth mindset, actively seeking feedback and using it to improve craft and impact.
- 7+ years in Product Design (or equivalent), plus at least 2 years in a management role.
- Bachelor's degree in design, a related field, or equivalent experience.

We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. While we don’t always operate in an office, we still come together for key moments of collaboration and connection. This role requires in-person collaboration 1-2 times every six months and can be located anywhere in the country.
