Job Description

The Product Manager, Global Diagnostics at Zoetis owns the strategy and roadmap for assigned diagnostic products across the full lifecycle, leading cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into prioritized execution and successful global launches.

Role Summary

You will be accountable for product vision, strategy, and roadmap for assigned products, including budget guidance. The position partners with a Cross Functional Product Team (CFPT) to define problem statements, prioritize the product backlog, and drive performance and innovation that support long-term customer value. You will also serve as an internal advocate and product expert for launches across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap, vision, and strategy across the complete product lifecycle for assigned products, including budget guidance.
  • Consolidate inputs from SMEs within the CFPT to define problem statements and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Lead CFPT and sub-teams for product break-fix needs, constant maintenance, performance improvements, and delivery of enhancements and innovations that support customer value.
  • Influence colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives using data and logic.
  • Stay attuned to veterinary medicine customer needs and how customers use diagnostic products to position product features for stronger animal health outcomes.
  • Define problem statements and maintain product vision and strategy through continuous product discovery, including sustained experimentation and customer conversations, to establish and demonstrate Voice of Customer (VOC) expertise.
  • Align product direction with Commercial teams on product financial and strategic goals.
  • Connect product users and product operations into clear product requirements, including an in-depth understanding of veterinary needs and best practices within animal hospitals.
  • Monitor product performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide ROI assessments for projects and evaluate tradeoffs in investing between projects and features.
  • Incorporate on-the-ground feedback into the product backlog while maintaining long-term strategy.
  • Emphasize continuous improvement and prioritization, and deliver open backlog items according to a planned release schedule.
  • Guide CFPT collaboration by empowering teams to make key decisions and assigning team-level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Work effectively with other functions within Zoetis through team building, facilitation, feedback practices, and promotion of psychological safety.
  • Lead as the Voice of Customer (VOC) and bring creative solutions forward through team member contributions.
  • Hold teams accountable for results and communicate commitments directly when issues arise.
  • Drive facets of the product experience for new product launches across global markets, supporting customer, colleague, and company preparation efforts, and transferring materials and expertise to Commercial and Medical teams.
  • Communicate regularly with Commercial, Medical, and Support teams on product update and deployment plans, including creating documentation to support training and service.
  • Track industry trends and competitive landscape developments.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to drive new product development.
  • Operate as product owner in ZTD (Zoetis Tech & Digital) software release process.
  • Collaborate with a network of research veterinarians and/or experts across multiple veterinary disciplines.
  • Partner with Zoetis Business Development (BD) and GMS External Supply/Procurement to negotiate or re-negotiate agreements, if applicable to the product.
  • Ensure business viability of the product, including revenue and costs to build, sell, and market the product, operating within the laws of countries served, and maintaining end-to-end alignment with brand promise across partnerships and agreements (if applicable). Lead development budget planning across the organization for assigned product(s).

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Product Management or a product development role.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple business functions including engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
  • Proven ability to work constructively with SMEs and company leaders.
  • BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline or business.
  • MBA, DVM, PhD, or other advanced degree preferred, but not required.

Location: Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ (onsite)

Salary: USD 105,000 - 151,000 per year

Additional Requirements

  • May require supporting vendor relationships and travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).

Product teams are cross-functional and durable. The Product Manager leads and partners with Global Commercial (Marketing, Support, and Sales) and Medical, VMRD (Zoetis Research & Development), ZTD (Zoetis Tech & Digital), and GMS (Zoetis Global Manufacturing and Supply) teams, along with partner OEM development (if applicable).

Education and Experience Context

Minimum education is a BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline or business. Minimum experience is 5+ years in Product Management or product development. Advanced degrees are preferred.
