Product Owner
Job Description
The Product Owner for the Quoting Platform within Liberty Mutual's Distribution Solutions leads initiatives that support Win Now and Frontier workstreams, delivering platform capabilities for multi-line insurance products. The role centers on representing the voice of the customer, maintaining the product backlog, and aligning stakeholders to maximize value.
Responsibilities
- Define and align the product vision with strategic priorities in partnership with stakeholders, contributing to the portfolio vision.
- Communicate the product and portfolio direction to the squad and to other teams outside the portfolio as needed.
- Collaborate with the squad to develop and track product level KPIs and ensure progress toward measurable outcomes.
- Steer product strategy with a moderate level of scope and complexity, owning and prioritizing the product backlog.
- Craft clear, actionable user stories and participate in quarterly planning to set priorities.
- Coordinate with more senior Product Owners to shape portfolio quarterly plans and manage stakeholder expectations for new capabilities.
- Lead expectations with stakeholders regarding delivery of features and functionalities and participate in squad ceremonies, including demos and retrospectives.
- Work daily with the agile working group to clarify requirements, remove roadblocks, and maintain alignment around product strategy.
- Coordinate with IT and business leadership to align development goals, while removing impediments to execution with stakeholders and the squad.
- Monitor product health, balancing long-term viability with near-term costs and outcomes; analyze feasibility and cost of delay for proposed changes.
- Understand regulatory and industry constraints to guide prioritization and negotiate priorities across squads as needed.
- Help build the squad roadmap and contribute to program or portfolio planning as required, communicating value per iteration based on capacity.
- Lead customer-driven design and usability testing for the squad, and support portfolio level CDD and UT activities.
- Maintain market and industry awareness to position the product effectively for adoption and success.
- Onsite requirement: two in-office days per week for candidates residing within 50 miles of Portsmouth, NH.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Agile development and IT project management, typically supported by a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 3 to 5 years of direct experience with agile teams plus around 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
- Ability to explain complex ideas to varied audiences and educate stakeholders on the business vision and the impact of change.
- Strong influencing capabilities with diverse stakeholders and demonstrated leadership skills.
- Capacity to make quick, informed decisions and solve problems while guiding a team toward progress.
- Insurance industry experience is preferred; knowledge of relevant products and portfolio is a plus.
- Demonstrated experimental mindset to drive innovation amid uncertainty.

Pay philosophy for this role reflects a range of USD 106,000 to USD 225,000 annually, determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location.
