Product Owner
Job Description
Equivant invites you to join as a Product Owner onsite in Florida, where you will help translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into concrete specs, maintain a focused backlog, and coordinate across engineering, design, and customer-facing teams to ship AI-enabled features. This role centers on clear written and spoken communication, rapid prototyping with AI-assisted tools, and a collaborative, cross-functional approach to product discovery and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own and keep a well-groomed backlog of clear, detailed written specs for your product area, designed for direct execution by engineering and AI-assisted development tools.
- Practice spec-driven development by turning vague business needs into precise specifications that reduce rework and back-and-forth.
- Serve as the primary bridge among engineering, design, support, and customer-facing teams, translating technical constraints into plain-language updates and business requirements into structured needs.
- Collaborate with support, implementation, and sales to understand field performance and gaps, then synthesize feedback into clear written findings.
- Maintain product documentation, release notes, and internal knowledge resources.
- Utilize AI tools such as Claude Design and similar AI-assisted design/product tools to prototype, iterate, and validate UI/UX concepts before engineering begins.
- Evaluate proposed changes for UI/UX consistency, usability, and adherence to design standards.
- Identify opportunities to optimize workflows, reduce friction, and remove redundant steps for end users.
- Continuously explore how AI tooling can accelerate discovery, spec-writing, prototyping, and validation across the product lifecycle.
- Partner with engineering to scope and prioritize work involving backend configuration and system logic, delivering clear written requirements rather than hands-on implementation.
- Test and validate completed work against the spec prior to release.
- Support senior product owners and product managers on larger initiatives, roadmap planning, and stakeholder communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 1β3 years of experience in or around a SaaS product organization, such as a product owner, business analyst, associate PM, implementation specialist, or similar role close to the product.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Spec-Driven Development.
- Hands-on familiarity with AI-driven product development.
- Working knowledge of UI/UX principles and standards.
- Experience identifying and driving workflow optimization.
- Comfort using tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar backlog and documentation systems.
- A collaborative mindset and a curiosity-driven approach, with a bias toward asking why before how.
Technologies
- Claude Design, Jira, Confluence
Nice to Have
- Exposure to enterprise or B2B SaaS products with configurable or rules-based logic.
- Basic SQL or data literacy to explore product usage and support investigations.
- Experience using AI coding or design assistants beyond Claude Design.
- Familiarity with wireframing or prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, etc.).
