Job Description

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. In this Product Owner role, you’ll join the IT team in Irving, TX (onsite) and help shape technology solutions that align with ministry objectives, from discovery through delivery using Agile practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as an effective witness.
  • Own and refine the product backlog by creating, sequencing, and prioritizing user stories based on ministry value, user insights, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure backlog items are well-defined, include clear acceptance criteria, and deliver maximum business and user value.
  • Evangelize the product internally and externally by building strong relationships with business users and stakeholders.
  • Run product discovery to understand user needs and keep feedback flowing into the product roadmap and backlog.
  • Mentor and guide the Product Business Analyst to support high-quality requirements gathering, user story development, and stakeholder analysis aligned with product vision and backlog priorities.
  • Partner with UI/UX, QA, and development teams throughout sprints to provide ongoing feedback, clarification, and strategic direction.
  • Accept or reject work based on alignment with user needs and quality standards, and redirect sprints when product goals or strategy shift.
  • Articulate and maintain a clear, compelling product vision that guides sprint goals and keeps the team aligned with ministry and organizational objectives.
  • Lead and participate in planning activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, demos, and release planning for consistent alignment between execution and product vision.
  • Provide regular progress updates to IT leadership and clearly communicate status to stakeholders for transparency and shared understanding.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of customer-facing and data-centric digital products, especially those supporting constituent management, engagement, or fundraising activities.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and enterprise systems, with the ability to analyze data structures and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive as a collaborative team member.
  • Thorough knowledge of software testing practices and techniques, including acceptance criteria, defect triage, and quality assurance processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of customer-facing and data-centric digital products (additional emphasis).
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (strongly preferred).
  • Fluency in English (required).
