Job Description

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Product Owner for the Distribution Marketing portfolio based in Portsmouth, NH with hybrid work arrangements. In this role, you will help shape the product vision and drive delivery for the platform and product that power campaign management, supporting efforts to find, win, and keep customers.

You will lead cross-team alignment around modernization of the marketing execution ecosystem and household channel alignment capability, working closely with engineering and stakeholders to ensure priorities, outcomes, and product health stay on track.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and align product vision with strategic priorities, including contributing to the portfolio vision and communicating it within and beyond your portfolio area.
  • Maintain a multiyear strategy and a north star aligned to organizational and stakeholder goals.
  • Work with your squad/team on product-level KPIs, taking collaborative accountability for achieving them; manage products with moderate degree of strategy, scope, and complexity.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, accountable for its contents and prioritization, including ensuring clear, actionable user stories.
  • Set priorities and participate in quarterly planning, and collaborate with more senior Product Owners for portfolio quarterly planning.
  • Set delivery expectations with stakeholders for new capabilities, features, and functionalities, and participate in squad/team demos, retrospectives, and other ceremonies.
  • Work daily with the agile working group to clarify business requirements, remove roadblocks, communicate continuously, and support alignment around product strategy.
  • Partner with IT and business leadership to align development and business goals, resolve open issues, and remove execution blockers with stakeholders and squad/team members.
  • Monitor product health to support long-term viability and efficiency, balancing long- and short-term considerations with desired outcomes.
  • Analyze and report on feasibility and cost of delay implications, including economies and other factors tied to product changes.
  • Account for regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints, prioritizing accordingly and negotiating across internal and external squads/teams to align priorities.
  • Contribute to the squad/team product roadmap, provide strategy inputs from stakeholders, and potentially contribute to program or portfolio planning; influence stakeholder expectations for delivery.
  • Communicate expected value and changes in value for each iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etc.) based on squad/team capacity.
  • Lead customer-driven design and usability testing for the squad/team, collaborating on CDD and UT across the portfolio; support product positioning through market and industry analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc.) and minimum 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams, plus 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Ability to depict and explain complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences, including educating SBU or departments on business vision, plan, and impact of change.
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to make difficult and quick decisions on a daily basis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience leading a team to push solutions and progress.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
  • Experimental mindset to drive innovation amid uncertainty.

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary: USD 106,000 - 197,000 per year.

  • The typical starting salary range is determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
  • The full salary range reflects competitive labor market value for these roles nationally and provides progression as employees grow within the role.
  • Some roles may include a corresponding compensation plan that can include commission and/or bonus earnings, based on factors in that plan.
