Product Owner - Digital Channels
Job Description
Pennymac is looking for a Product Owner to lead digital channels product strategy and execution within the lending experience. In this onsite role in Carrollton, TX, you will own the roadmap and end-to-end lifecycle for technology solutions that support a more effective mortgage loan process, with measurable outcomes and operational efficiency in focus.
Role overview
As the Product Owner - Digital Channels, you define product vision and translate business needs into clear goals, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements. Working in an Agile environment, you manage the product lifecycle from ideation through requirements, development, launch, and iteration, coordinating across business units, technology teams, and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Define and champion product vision, strategy, and roadmap for your designated area within the lending experience, aligned with overall business objectives
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, including ideation, requirements definition, prioritization, development, launch, and iteration
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business units, technology teams, and executive leadership to gather insights, align priorities, and support product success
- Translate business needs and market opportunities into actionable goals and requirements using use cases, process flows, and data analysis
- Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to maximize value delivery within Agile (Scrum/Kanban)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives, partnering closely with development teams, Tech Leads, and UAT
- Drive complex, high-profile initiatives by coordinating across departments and interfacing with system developers, business subject matter experts, and project managers
- Act as a domain expert for end-to-end business functions in your product area, leading analysis to identify capabilities, improvement opportunities, and measurable outcomes
- Identify and drive implementation of operational efficiencies and new business processes related to the product
- Create and maintain product documentation, including requirements, process flows, and reports; communicate product strategy, progress, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency planning for product development and launch
- Collaborate on planning, oversight, and execution of testing phases to ensure changes meet finalized requirements and quality standards
- Ensure product decisions align with broader strategic initiatives, including revenue opportunities or cost-saving measures
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience applying Agile methodologies
- Proven success owning and delivering complex technology products or programs, preferably in an Agile environment
- Deep understanding of product management best practices, business analysis, and process improvement
- Proficiency with Agile/PM tools including JIRA, Confluence, or similar, and high proficiency in G-Suite
- Understanding of data management concepts and database technologies; general understanding of software systems architecture
- Experience with BI tools, Snowflake/SQL Server/.NET, XML/EDI, and GTM/Google Analytics is a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience interfacing across stakeholder levels, including executive management
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate within and across teams, influence without authority, and work independently
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
- Experience in Financial Services, particularly the mortgage industry, highly desirable

Compensation and location
- Salary: $95,000 - $155,000 per year
- Work model: Office

Individual salary may vary based on role, geographic location or market data, and the skills and experience required. Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded based on company and individual performance.
